Bad Mileage

Hi..

I have 2008 - 1.6L versa.

I do not get good mileage compared to what is should be getting as of 1.6L nissan engine.

I usually try to drive around 100 kmph if im on highway.

I do some quick acceleration till i reach around 50 kmph... (not crossing 3000 rpm).... then continuing with gentle acceleration and then cruise at the desired speed...

i get around 8.2L/100 km at the best and an average of 9-10 L/100 km.....
which is much lower for a small car... (i know 2.4L cars getting this economy)
i expect 6 or 7 L/100 km....

what could i do to improve efficiency?
what is the most economical speeed for versa? [i get 2000 rpm for 80 kmph]
should i accelerate gently in lower speeds, or do a quick accelerate to reach the cruising speed quickly?

tips tips? =)

thanks...

will do gentle acceleration after my next fill-up... and see how my mileage goes by...

then i'll update here :p

btw, which can be considered as the most economical speed? 80/90/100kmph?
hi.

ok here it is.
finished my full tank :p

i checked my ENTIRE stats log, and i'll state it here

AVERAGE FUEL CONSUMPTION = 24.42 mpg / 10.38 kmpl
LAST FILL UP FUEL CONSUMPTION = 26.27 mpg / 11.17 kmpl

During the entire last fill up, i did the best economy driving i could ever do. Never revved - never crossed 3K rpm..
Drove without a/c lots of times.

Around 65% driving was highway.
Accelerated as gently i could to save fuel.
Average speed was around 80 kmph - 90 kmph (50-55 mph).

Now is this normal, or is something wrong?
I did the best i could do my driving style.

Keeping Front 33 psi
Rear 32 psi.

But i always add 1 extra psi while fill-up to compensate for any loses.
ok
i have automatic transmission, i fill full tank. [i guess my fuel tank is 45L capacity 'maybe']
last fill up was 41.63L - got 465km = 31.55 miles per imperial galloon.

i know i drive a little more around city, but i still think my economy is horrible...

reading about ur fuel light coming on at 580 km, i have done 560 km MAX on full tank - with low light coming on at around 530 km. [so i tried my max range i ever could.

isnt 38 psi too high?
how much extra has to be put in for synthetic oil?
i just remembered all of a sudden...

How important is it change fuel filter?
I got 107K km on my odo, and i havent changed fuel filter.

Does fuel filter impact mileage?
Ok Next step - synthetic oil + fuel filter

any suggestions on which synthetic oil?
i idle the car in D during start-up xD
I just got 700 kilomtres to a tank (45 litres). According to Google, I'm getting almost 44 miles per gallon. I drive approximately 70% highway and 30% city. My Versa has the 1.8L and the CVT transmission.

I'm happy with that.
good mileage since ur 70% highway.

im 65% CITY DENSE TRAFFIC - 35% Highway...
and i get about 430-450 kms to a tank (same - 45 litres)..

My max MAAAX ever is 560 kms and i was like WOW!
I have a question.

What is the most efficient speed to drive for highway driving.
What is the speed that saves most fuel; which is most economical driving in highway?

70km/h?
80km/h?
90km/h?
100km/h?
110km/h?
120km/h?

I have the 1.6L HR16DE with 4-speed auto.

I am fed-up of traffic, and i am going to take a 40 km long cut, which will however make me reach home in same time since there is no traffic.

hehe i want to bump this.
want it to appear in the headlines, so someone reads it and replies asap.

Curious for the answer to this question.

Admins - sorry for double posting spam :p
lowest rpm's possible. Basically do the posted speed limit and it will be the best mpg's you can get. You have the worst possible tranny for good mpg's. Basically you need to try and go the slowest you can in 4th gear which is not up to you. The transmission decides. You can read up on CleanMPG, An authoritative source on fuel economy and hypermiling for tips on driving to maximize gas mileage.
Well i can reach 4th gear on 50 or 60 km/h :p
Question : HR16DE engine

Route 1) Bumper to bumper traffic.
Extreme stop and go. Harsh acceleration at any moment where gap is seen.
Distance : 22 km
Time taken : 40-45 mins

Route 2) Empty Road.
Fast driving. No stop and go, but fluctuations of 120km/h to 140km/h (74 mph to 87 mph).
Distance: 65 km
Time taken : 50-55 mins

Route 2 is mentally more relaxing since its open roads, no battling, nicely driving.

My Question - which route is more economical in terms of fuel consumption?

just curious did you change your radiator
no :p
going at 140 should'nt cause heatup's i guess.

Route 1 is going to sharjah using ittihad road
Route 2 is going to sharjah using bypass road - best empty road to travel during evening hours of traffic. no cars = no fighting for way :p

But my radiator coolant is filled to max always.
