hi everyone. i just got a 2010 versa 1.8s.

i found the haynes manual online,

im used to doing most work on my own vehicles. i was browsing through the haynes manual and i am a little concerned with where it says that after disconnecting then reconnecting the battery it is necessary to step through various relearn procedures, one of which (steering angle sensor), they say "must" be done by a shop. is it really necessary on this vehicle to take it to a dealer or shop after a simple battery disconnect/reconnect? anyone out there who has swapped their battery or otherwise can help share some insight on this issue? thanks.

The only thing I saw, which was just a glance, had to do with Intelli-key and NATS which you most likely don't have.
I also don't recall any relearns needed after a battery disconnect.

Steering angle doesn't need to be reset. The only things you'll lose are window memory for one touch open/close and power roof if you have it, and your radio presets.

I've done a few battery changes with my '07 Versa SL (1.8L engine) and never bothered with resetting any systems (except the radio presets). But I don't delay in changing the battery after disconnecting the used one, and have never noticed a CEL or had any codes show up as a result.

thanks everyone for replies. glad to hear it. the part that freaked me out is section 5-4 of the haynes manual. sounds like a false alarm.
