What's everyone found is the best way? The oven method i can't do because my oven isn't big enough for one light, not by a long shot. No idea what kind of ovens everyone else has but they don't fit. A heat gun does work, but it's a pain in the ass, and butchers the housing, i bought an aftermarket (TYC) pair of lights on eBay because mine were faded beyond repair, and maybe the aftermarket will be butyl, and also i used acetone on one of the lense' and found it softens that plastic like butter, so the lense is essentially dicked...

Whatever idiot that did an HID retro on a set who said they came apart EASY is talking out of his ass. They aren't butyl and they don't come out easy by any standard.

I just need to open them to black out the housings. So maybe just use the heat gun, get the edge nice and hot, and slowly lift and lift until it starts coming? I saw a technique with a cutting tip on soldering iron, cut through it cleanly and like butter, then you can just silicone that gap to re-seal.
