Good they everyone. Got swapped my 03 versa with a BMW E 36 but here's a problem on my part. Just happened that the gearbox cogged on the dash lit up and the remained in 3rd gear. As you know, im always fond of replacing parts and now i encountered a headache and couldn't resolved this one. This issue took place few times now starting last sunday and becoming more frequent. Also when i turned on the light, you have to wait for a few minutes before the lights come out. what's this strange thing happening to my car?

i checked wikipedia. is it 95 and older [OBDI] or 96 and up [OBDII]? This may have a bearing on the results.

it's the 96 OBDII man
I bought my son a 1996 300zx 5 speed and it ran great for about 3 weeks until the tranny started grinding going into 3rd and 4th gear. Slightly at first but eventually got pretty annoying. We finally had to have the transmission rebuilt to the tune of $2500.00 :( Maybe bring your car by a reputable transmission repair shop and let them take a look and test drive with it. They will rule out a transmission problem or maybe it's something else. If you have the OBII you can go to any auto parts store such as advance auto, auto zone, orielly's etc and they can check your codes from your computer for free.

Get the car on a GT1 and read the codes. There is something stored if a light it lit.

You are missing a ton of info to even internet diagnose.

What model e36?
how many miles?
Was it making any noise?
Last time the fluid was changed? color/condition of fluid and type.
any recent work? Clutch, shifter, bushings?
Run it hard...miss a gear?

things to look at.... slave cylinder, bleed clutch fluid, Check clutch for disengagement. then on to the shifter and the mechanisms, then trans after. New BMW trans can cost you (pending model) 5000.00, but there are a ton of used options (eBay) for ~500 bucks.

Good luck

Edit: if that pic is your car, it looks to have a supercharger or turbo... you might want to also state the rest of the mods.
