Can a 07 Versa hatchback tow a mini cooper?

Hey, i have a cross country trip coming up and i was wondering if my 07 Versa could tow my brothers Mini Cooper? I realize i would have to install a tow package as well.

I wouldn't recommend it...too much weight.

I don't think the Versa is supposed to be used to tow anything ... especially another vehicle, lol ...

The most I tow is my bicycle!

is something wrong with the Mini? Drive that thing!

Towing another car with the Versa is a baaaad idea. The engine is going to be extremely overworked, and the brakes are also going to be overworked. I could def see a safety issue and problems for the Versa if you did that.

You can ship it rail for a few hundred and that's the way to go. My brother in law had a car shipped rail from California to Montana. Drive it to the rail yard or have a truck transport it.

it won't work.
based on the Uhaul website

Your tow vehicle must be at least 750 pounds heavier than the vehicle-in-tow

the versa weights 2722lbs and the mini cooper 2855lbs, so the tow car needs to weight at least 3472 pounds

Never overload your tow vehicle. Do not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and the Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR), which are posted on a label inside the driver's door opening.
