Is a 51R the right battery?

I needed a new battery for my 2009 Versa S with MT-6 a couple of months ago. I was unable to find a battery with the correct length! The height and width were fine. The replacement batteries were all about 1" longer so I was unable to close up the battery heat shield so I left the open gap on the side away from the engine. My local NAPA dealer had the best price for the 7590 battery. The longer battery fits fine in the battery tray. Double check the length of your old battery and I believe the 51R is also longer than the original so the battery heat shield will not close up around the battery.

I replaced my factory battery last summer, and I replaced it with one from Costco. I just checked what the book said in the battery isle, purchased that size, and it fit perfectly.

In my research it appeared that the MT-6 and CVT for 2009 used different batteries and there may not be a problem for the CVT with the battery heat shield.
