I took my 2008 Versa SL to an Arizona emissions check station today. It did not pass, much to my chagrin. Two problems: check engine light does not come on and an Evaporative Emission Control System Leak was detected, albeit a "small leak." So, can someon offer suggestions to troubleshoot why my check engine light will not illuminate? It should come on when the ignition switch is "on" but the engine has not been started.
Thanks for your help.

if there is a bulb for it then most likely it's burnt out. I'm thinking we have an LED though for some reason which probably means bad solder. If the OBD port is still working I can't imagine your issue being anything other then that.

Also your evap issue could just be a gas cap. You should post the exact trouble code.
