Getting ready to buy a service manual. Does anyone have any reason to suggest that either Haynes or Chiltons is better?

Thanks in advance.

I typically look for the real service of shop manual. Sometimes you can find them cheap on ebay in print or electronic format. Sometimes you can find them online for FREE but usually its not in English. :surprise

A very solid X2 to the last post.

The Haynes is generally a bit better but often curved in information by using Euro right hand drive cars since done in England. Chilton does not go as deep in technical detail but both will be commonly limited in scope to your individual car as they often dump too many years worth of models into one book and commonly show you an engine that is not the one in your car. Same with body and trim and other detail things you want to see, they may have it for a certain year but not others.

I used to sell them when I was in parts and many of them came back with buyer saying it had nothing on his car in it. While some of that was rotten people using them to then get the $30 back after use, I suspect some of what they said was true as I have run into the same issues and I also commonly opened them up right there with customer and had us both look to discover it was just like I said, there wasn't that much the buyer could use there.

At $15 I said buy them, at $30 not so much, they are getting too high (at least to me) for what they offer.

I've always kinda preferred chiltons but strictly speaking neither chiltons or haynes is all that great, like above I try to get a factory service manual if at all possible but much harder to do on something this new. The link for the ones at nico club are pretty good I think they only go to 2014 but no huge changes since then so it should be mostly accurate. The layout kinda sucks but it could be printed or re-organized if I guy spent a little time on it.

Thanks

Thank you.

Sorry for the shortage of information. The car is a 2016 Versa Note SV.

I'm sure the 14 info will give me most of what I want. Shouldn't need to do any work on the car but I'm one of those guys that likes to read up on how things work.

I downloaded the service manual from the link but at the moment don't have a program to read the downloaded program. I will keep looking on Ebay. Will also keep watch on the Chilton's prices and see if they do down a bit.

Fixed

Cobb,

Did have what is needed for the PDF it was the RAR that I didn't have anything to open. I ended up downloading the complete service manual for the 2016 Note. That should cover anything I ever need.

Thanks for the links.

Any number of free unzipping programs can unpack a rar file. Often you can find WinRar for free or a limited period one. A rar is just another form of zipping files up to condense them.

Or rename the rar to cbr and then download like comic reader to read it as a cbr. Cbr and cbz files are simply renamed rar and zip files.

You have far more utility to use though as a pdf.
