Clicking sound from engine after rotor and pad change

Does anyone know if it's normal to hear a clicking from the engine after I changed my rotors and pads? I read somewhere that it is, but I was wondering if any of you have had this happen to you?

My 08 versa is doing the same thing and I'm taking it to the shop on Tuesday to figure out what has failed. My mileage has dropped form the mid 30's avg. to low 20's mpg since the changing of the pads and rotors.
My problem was not with the engine it turned out that the rotors were chattering and were replaced today, on the way home form the dealer the LF ball joint failed and in driving it back to the dealer the RF ball joint failed as well, so my car is in the shop getting both lower control arms replaced . Total cost to me for replacing rotors and both lower control arms is around $1000.

The real problem all along was the ball joints failing causing the noises.
