Hi,

I have a 2015 Nissan Versa. The check engine light can on and I took it to a friend who said it was a code p0705, which indicates an error from the Transmission Range Sensor. I replaced this with a used one but it didn't help. Also when I turn the key on, the gear indicator lights of PRNDL show on the dash but once the car has started and switched out of Park, the lights all disappear from the dash. It goes into the gears, but sometimes shifts hard into Drive. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Don't dare drive it for fear or ruining my transmission. :smile

Any electrical issue affecting the sensor output to ECM can do that. Probably wouldn't hurt to run the grounds for quality there and especially the ones to the instrument cluster and trans.

Does it even have one? That sensor is for standard type automatics that sense individual gears, CVT pretty much has no individual gears, they are literally infinite.

May be in the TCM, or if a mechanical part like the others, it will be at where the shift linkage enters the transmission, the shaft going in has a switch assembly with a bunch of wires right there.

Went and looked. It has one and located where I said BUUUUUUUTT................the lower part of it is the transmission case itself, meaning it is now part of the transmission and the service manual says you change the ENTIRE TRANS to get a new one!

Why the guy above went to a used one likely.

Click on the link below, then click on the "Nissan recall campaign bulletin - NHTSA" which will open up a PDF file pertaining to your issue.
