So if you hook it with 12v wires directly from the battery, it does not run?

I have a 2014 nissan versa the cooling fan has power but won't turn on put new fan in and same thing

The old one didn't but I don't have a clue how it fix its self but after I put the new one back in it came on with the ac as soon as the clutch kicked on and has been working ever since

It may not work that way as the fan has an electronic module on it that the computer must switch to on before it works. A simple 12 volt 'jump' likely won't do that like on most fans.
If OP never got engine hot enough to switch fan on with first fan it may have been OK.
