Crazy Creaking.......Located I think.......

Hello all,

I have been reading everything I can on Versas and noise. Nothing lines up to my creak.

My creak is a start stop, turn bump, creak. I push the car side to side and it creaks. Today I located what I think to be the problem spot. The Member Stay, it is torqued done to unibody and through a bushing. The NSM says to torque to 94, mine were not quite there. In acuratlety I think Im more around 100, but so far knock on wood, 1 trip to Dairy Queen and no creaking noise.

I was wondering if I could easily just drop out the member stay, and put some lube on the part that bolts directly to the unibody, and lube up the bushing, to the touch the bushing seems fine.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Kris,

I just joined the forum today because I have a similar problem. . . but I think it may be completely unrelated.

I just bought my Versa. It's a 2011 with 39k miles and zero accidents on the history report (or so I was told by the dealership).

I've noticed when turning hard to the left only, as the front left tire rotates, there's a creaking or squeaking sound. Is this similar or unrelated to what you're encountering?

Wanted to reply back and just say that the creaking issue I was having has been resolved I think. A friend of mine who was a mechanic explained that sometimes you will hear a "creak" or "squeaking" sound when the tires rotate at the front of the car. Especially going around turns and after the car has been heated up.

This can sometimes be due to oxidation built up in some component of the transmission system in dealing with the fluid. The way to resolve it apparently is placing the car in neutral, cutting the steering wheel completely to the left, and accelerating to each mark on the RPM meter for about 30 seconds and then back down the meter for 30 secs. You repeat this with the right side of the steering wheel.

Since I did this troubleshooting, the squeaking I used to hear is minimal actually. Hope this helps someone.

I had a weird squeaking sound coming from the front and thought it was somewhat of the same thing. I took it my mechanic and all it ended up being for me was my exhaust bushing were dried out.

Yes Koldness (#1post), it has been a while since your post but I'm with you brother. I have the exact same creaking sound which started at around 38K in my 2011 SL. About 3k miles later, it is now really creaking. Along with the continuous dash board creaks, the CVT trans noises and the clattering valve train, the car is driving me bonkers. Have you had success with the re torque of that component and did you also lube things? I will be looking into that area you mentioned as I am not familiar with the exact underbody component you are talking about. Thanks for the information.

Creaking fixed

Follow up to Koldness's post about creaking. I got under the car a few months ago and torqued the engine stay bolts up to about 100 lbs. They were definitely loose and the creak went right away and has stayed away. Thanks for the tip Koldness. I know certain Versa owners have replaced suspension parts at their mechanics advise only to still have the noise, so I appreciate the info. I searched the web for more than a year about that creak but nothing until your post. You da man!

your comment makes a lot of sense to me. I had a exhaust issue so I bought it to a local mechanic for them to weld whatever it was that needed to be fixed but when I left there I started hearing this noise in the front right side of my car but it's scary. I wasn't sure if my tire was going to fall off or what it sounds horrible. Eyewitness information with me when I see my mechanic on Tuesday
