Nissan Versa hatchback soldiers on for 2012 despite all-new sedan counterpart

I am thinking Nissan wants to jumpstart the all new sedan. So we get one more year to say we are current with the body style. And that's alright by me.:woot:

Was at the dealer today. Only saw one brand new Versa in the showroom, and it was a base sedan.

Dealer lot actually looked quite empty, except for a huge line up of Jukes.
That's interesting, I wonder why they are pushing the new sedan over the hb, oh well lol
Dealers here said they won't get them iin till september maybe..but they have been released

I'm not a fan of the new style at all! I love the look of my V :)
Damn! My local dealer doesn't have any Jukes, which is a shame cause I wanted to drive one.

The dealer I go to had one in the showroom and at least 10 outside. Looked at the one in the showroom ... Not a fan at all.
Oh man I love the Juke! Can't wait to drive one.
Jukes are cool....they run 1/4 almost as fast as a spec v...which is very impressive for a awd suv making less horses...you general loose a lot of power in awd but they did a good job on keeping it up to par

I read somewhere that the HB is a good seller and they are trying to do the same for the sedan. thats why the sedan is being launched now, and a redisgn for the HB with be a 2013 model, and from where im understanding, the HB will be completly different from the sedan. It will be aimed more towards cars like the toyota matrix.
I like the fact that the carryover will help with resale value on my '11, and with parts availability in the long term.

Nothing like getting a terrific deal on a leftover, only to discover that it isn't the end of the line after all!

As far as I'm concerned, the new sedan looks like a great Japanese car. But I prefer the French character of the existing vehicle. I find it interesting that when Renault was last in Canada, they couldn't give their cars away, but these rebadged Clio's have been selling like hotcakes...
Yesterday (Thurs 8/4) I was at my dealer for 7500 mi service. In speaking with the GM of the dlrship, he said that the 2012 Versa SEDAN was getting a little larger, as an entry level sedan. He noted that this would hit the Sentra sales. (If the Sentra is the low end sedan....I'm not up on the Nissan line).
AND there would not be a HB until 2013. Comment was that he wondered what Nissan was thinking, because the Versa HB sells, while the sedan does not.
Note that I am in northeastern Mass. I can't say when I last saw a versa sedan, all I see is HBs.
We are completely out of jukes. Lol. 2012 Versa is sedan only. There is no hatch yet. As far as sales has told me there wont be a 2012 hatch. You can barely buy a 2011 hatch even. At least in canada
Me and my girl test drove a juke. It was 4wd turbo but i thought it drove like $hit. It felt like the center of gravity was very high and when you nailed it it felt unstable and the steering was very touchy. When my girl was driving it was uneasy for me to sit there and relax. You had to be very awake and on top of it 100% of the time. Nice looking and i like the style but i would never get one. But of course this was my experience and my opinion. Test drive one yourself maybe you will have a different experience.
6speed FWD is better. Much quicker
Here in md I see mixure of both....sedan and hb...I think its kinda cool that the government rates the hatch as a mid size not a compact..but the sedan is a compact.

Does anybody know if the seats fold down flat on the 2013 hatchback? I really hated that on the 1st gen Versa how they didn't fold flat. So annoying.

I like how rugged the rear seats look when you fold them down. I'm thinking the seats are more comfortable than the fit rear seats.
I think that they didn't fold flat in order to make them higher and more comfortable.
Than what???lol There is a reason that some of the quickest cars are AWD while the rest of them are RWD......THEY are quicker. Much quicker off the line. Now fast, if we were to entertain that concept, is another story. Because of rotational friction etc. a FWD/RWD vehicle may be FASTER, but quicker, no. Little to NO wheel spin off the line means quicker. In higher HP cars, FWD is at a real loss. I know for a fact...My Altima SER 305whp Every bolt on and many cross parts from the 350Z/G35), SRT-4 600+whp. In the SRT-4 I have an AEM EMS which allows me to create a 2 step launch so that I maximize traction, but the Subies and EVO's with close HP always out launch me. I reel most in later, but the start is the same, they are quicker....lol:)
