Than what???lol There is a reason that some of the quickest cars are AWD while the rest of them are RWD......THEY are quicker. Much quicker off the line. Now fast, if we were to entertain that concept, is another story. Because of rotational friction etc. a FWD/RWD vehicle may be FASTER, but quicker, no. Little to NO wheel spin off the line means quicker. In higher HP cars, FWD is at a real loss. I know for a fact...My Altima SER 305whp Every bolt on and many cross parts from the 350Z/G35), SRT-4 600+whp. In the SRT-4 I have an AEM EMS which allows me to create a 2 step launch so that I maximize traction, but the Subies and EVO's with close HP always out launch me. I reel most in later, but the start is the same, they are quicker....lol

6speed FWD is better. Much quicker

Have you seen an EVO launch from a stand still? The beauty of AWD is still superior, lol, even if it is only "periodic". This was my only point to the response that FWD was quicker.

The Juke isn't really an AWD car anyway, it's more of a periodic 4-wheel drive car, that uses the ability to send power to different wheels kind of like the EVO and some hondas do in order to improve cornering and stability.

You know I would have to agree! The most suprising attribute about my wife's Versa is the fact that it has TONS of leg room. It honestly has a good deal more room not only up front, but in the rear, than my Altima. lol Go figure.

I started out wanting a Juke. (Never dreamed I'd end up with a Versa Hatchback.) But there were what I considered "deal breakers" with the Juke. No armrest for the driver. No storage room in the rear nor any leg room in the back seats. (It's not a family vehicle...but rather for maybe a household of 2 or 3 people.) The fact that the front seats had to be pulled forward in order for the rear seats to be able to completely fold down was a load of crap. Poor interior/spacial design which really p-ssed me off because I wanted one. I liked the look of it ... However while in the showroom my youngest daughter saw a Versa Hatchback, and although it wasn't as funky a style as the Juke and not as gutsy an engine I was impressed by the amount of storage space and the amount of leg room, and it was quite a bit cheaper. An extended test drive convinced me so I pulled the trigger on it. I've gotten used to it now (I came from a Mitsubishi Eclipse so it was quite a stretch for me) and finally the ride very calming and smooth. It's also good on gas.

My SRT-4 shifts butter smooth. Has he already invested in a new BILLET shift selector? Modern Performance sells them and they are sooooo worth the money. Its one of the weakest links on the SRT-4. I broke 2 stock ones before I finally upgraded. Could also be his TOB fork inside the tranny housing. These 2 suggestions assume that his tranny is otherwise healthy...syncros etc.

I assume the fwd manual Juke is quicker all around than awd auto/cvt Juke. Wheel spin loss probably doesn't factor in with low stock hp. And as you said, as the hp is increased, the fwds can't find as much traction, especially when launching, the car's weight shifts to the rear, giving advantage to awds and rwds. And when the hp gets really crazyawd becomes even tougher to beat on launch!

How's your srt4 shifting for ya? My buddy's 375hp srt4 will hardly come out of gear under full throttle. What does he need to upgrade? He also has a rev controller for launch, but still thx.08v

WTF are you talking about. Of course i know the GTR. lol And guess what its also AWD, not some part time AWD bs like you want us to think...So too is the WRX and the EVO. lol The only car that fits your description as a "part time" AWD system is the Celica Altrac. That car truly was a part time AWD system, BUT the GTR is infact AWD, you know? lol

Yeah, or, you know, the GT-R.

That was my point, it's actually probably better than AWD.

Yes it can be. To further clear this up the "intuitive system of the AWD that Nissan employs does just what ALL AWD systems inherently do...provides AWD. This is most pronouned on acceleration where the power is applied in a 50/50 fashion to provide the best grip...as in pulling away from a red light, then at cruising it the biases power to the FWD configuration. Soo AWD, including "Intuitive AWD" is still better than just FWD. A vehicle with I-AWD still has the advantages of AWD from a standing start where the FWD doesnt.

I was told by my nissan dealer for example only: That the Rogue can be in FWD or AWD. He told me if you get the AWD, well you get all wheel drive all the time, there is no switching. If you get the FWD Rogue, it runs in FWD, but under safty issues, the Rogue can transfer power to the rear wheels and become AWD "temporarily" untill conditions are stable again. If your stuck, no, it wont work. Only like when munuvering around stuff on the road, and it puts you in danger, is when it sends power to all 4 wheels. So could that be considered part time AWD right? I hope that makes sence.

Not really sure why you think I'm disagreeing with you on anything. The "you know" was me thinking it was funny that the biggest Nissan elephant in the room had been left out of the discussion on a Nissan forum in a discussion on AWD. And, my point is, that the Juke in AWD is, of course, a great thing. The only real bummer here is the lack of availability of a manual transmission in the AWD version of the car. My point is that it uses a computer controlled AWD system (like the GT-R, the EVO, etc) that makes things a lot BETTER than a more simple system. Not worse.
