Check your spare tire area. I found an extra brand new remote in a manilla envelope. Worth a try.
Congrats on your new Versa, Dennis. I love my 2011.I just bought a '13 Versa SV Sedan with keyless entry.
As I always do with a new car, I had my hardware store make a plain, metal key for me that I keep in my wallet in case I lock myself out of the car.
The $2 duplicate key opens the doors, starts the engine, e.g., everything you expect a key to do.
The key fob with the electronic chip is only needed for the keyless entry functions.
I have a 2011 Nissan Versa l lost the key with alarm now my car won’t start does it have a chip in it what do you suggest l do who do l call to disarm l have a plain key spare but it still won’t startThanks for key info
Congrats on your new Versa, Dennis. I love my 2011.
I'm going to stealyour idea about making a $2 key whenever I acquire a newer car.
I ended up buying 2 more smart key fobs with their contained keys -- one for my wife and one extra (for my key ring in my other pocket. I'm a belt AND suspenders kind of guy)
But until your post I didn't know whether the key had a chip in it.
Now, thanks to you, I do.
Enjoy the car.
