Double Din GPS $220?

Has anyone seen/used this product before? It's claims to be a 7" in-dash, GPS, Multimedia, double din touch screen device. It's selling on "light in the box" which I believe is a Chinese website and on Amazon for $220. I can't seem to find a single review for this thing and as appealing as it. I've a feeling it's probably junk but just in case thought I'd ask on the off chance it's actually decent and somone has one or used one before.

No I don't. I'll be searching some like that for my V

I noticed it supports GPS but does not have the software, not sure how much more that would be.
Better choice would be the Kenwood DDX-318. They are NIB on Ebay for about $275.00
Great brand name and awesome unit! I have the DDX-418 in my 2000 Frontier. Only difference is the 418 has built in BT, if you dont need/want BT capabilities, the 318 has exactly everything else. GPS can be added later for another $260.00 of=r so, but the GUI that the Kenwoods use are perhaps among, if not, the best available. Just a heads up. :) I hate cheap assed Chinese stuff, and would hate for another member to get burned with a POS.
Normally people will tell you if is Chinese, don't buy it, so don't buy it lol. A better choice you might find at sonicelectronix.com. They have all sorts of reliable brands and for dirt cheap too. Check it out, might find what you want for a bill or two more.

Here, I did most of the work for you lol.

These are all GPS comparable, you can find their corresponding unit at ebay for about 130-150 I think.
I believe we paid less for this deck on ebay, but this is what we had in our Versa. It was pretty good. I wouldn't trust that one if its chinese. Look on ebay for this one, I believe we got it new for like $300 or around there.

Thanks for the responses, as I thought it's just more cheap Chinese junk. I think I'll either get a new Garmin or buy an in dash unit when they don't all cost $500+ for more or less the same thing a $100 Garmin can do.
My old Garmin 255w doesn't have free lifetime updates:(Do the newer ones have that? Would be handy
You can buy a newer model, I've seen some that appear to charge extra and come with lifetime updates. Garmin also sell lifetime updates for $90. Which isn't a bad price considering.

Never buy this kind of sh.., Select brands you know like Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC...
If you get any problem with those chinese radios, you will NEVER be able to get them repaired or serviced.
If you only need a GPS, Garmin is a really good choice. I would consider TOMTOM too. (sounds funny...)

You are 100% correct! I tried a stereo from a no name brand bought at a large retailer here in my first car (a ford) and it was junk! i actually went through 3 or 4 of them under warranty haha. The thing was that bad when my car died I just left it in the dash. I was hoping to find an in-dash nav system so I wouldn't have to break out the suction cup each time I got lost. I may either save up the cash for something that will last or upgrade my Garmin.

It run on Microsoft ce operating system and if you get the gps one all you do is shop around for gps software that run on window ce. If the cdrom break who cares it can be playing music from phone through blue tooth or usb thumb drive. Yes it's chinese but aint our other stuff at our house chinese? Chinese stuff is getting better every day. In 10 years China would be best quality then everywhere else.

Yes I'm skipping both. I'd rather not deal with cheap junk anymore. I've had enough of it to be honest. I upgraded my Garmin with the suction cup and will spend some $ on a decent double din stereo to compliment it at a later date. For the $92.99 I paid the Garmin 1690 is an excellent upgrade to what I've had. Now why can't they take that low cost Garmin and stick it in a double din case so I can stick it in my dash without asking $600 - $800 for the same thing?

Nissan loves to overcharge stuff that only cost them 50% less then the cost to manufacture. Talk about profits! :rolleyes5:

That's a good price on Newegg.com
Sorry.... cheap AND goods Chinese electronics such as you described doesn't exist. Things like this, especially Chinese, are cheap for a reason. Sadly you will soon discover this.
I bought a cheap and good quality Chinese double din DVD.Before i bought it, i called.
It is about $340 wih GPS. The soft is included so i only need to download the maps.
A nearly 2015 update

The in-dash navigation dilemma continues:

A very BIG NO-BUY warning about Boss Audio BV9386NV!

POS alert!

After the in-store display wasn't working, I had the Fry's install guys power one in the box up, connect antennas and see how it would work... That one didn't work either.

So, really needing navigation with traffic, I kept researching it. My wife is directionally-challenged to no end. It is BAD. I'm a clean freak and don't like windshield-mounted stuff anyway, I want in-dash navigation!

Boss gives a 2-year warranty when Fry's installs it, buying it on an AmEx made it 3-years of coverage, so I really wanted to make this work.

With two contradictory owner's manuals, the "sales" staff at Boss didn't even know it's own model numbers! When I had to repeat the model number twice and "A.J." didn't know what I was talking about. I said "the 6.95" screen, double-din, car thingy with navigation" he then went "oh." I asked my question and he dumped me into someone else's phone line. The guy didn't know the product either but he said "No" to my inquiry to play it safe.

Fry's, apparently, has had so many problems with this unit, they've been blowing it out for under $220 and not restocking them at this time. Other online reviews refer to known problems that the units are shipping with and your only recourse is removing the unit, paying for shipping back to Boss and waiting ages...

This is your NO BUY warning.

I have never understood why people buy stuff like Boss and are surprised when they discover it really is garbage. Why not just buy one of the major brand names ONCE instead of wasting time and money buying this one and that one trying to "make it work? There is a saying ..."Im to poor to buy cheap things".......
