Back of the engine, bolted directly to the exhaust manifold. The vehicle has to be lifted to get at it. Not fun laying on your back in your driveway.

Well, my CEL came back on. I pulled the code, just to make sure there wasn’t a new issue, and I got the PO420, the cat. Not surprised at all. I have to say though, and I hope I’m not jinxing myself, but she is running smooth, with no signs that the bad cat is causing more issues, no rotten egg smell or sluggish driving ( knock on wood).

Unless the cat is clogged, there are usually no symptoms at all, except exhaust smell when it gets worse. My car has a p0420 too from the previous owner, but you'd never know it.
