I put full syntyhetic in at 4000kms and it's all Ill ever use. Basically whatever name brand that's on sale. Mobil 1, Castrol Edge, Quaker State etc. All good stuff and waay better than any conventional oil or blend. your biggest benefit will be in winter during cold starts. The full synthetic flows much better when cold, conventional turns to molasses.
As for filters, I get mine from Nissan, they have a check valve that prevents drain out when the engine is shut off (for the horizontal mounted filter in the 1.6L). That prevents the second or 2 of no pressure at startup.

Ive personally always ran Mobil 1 and a Wix filter. How much is nissans filter? And Who makes it? I know K&N oil filters have an anti siphon valve to
I think I pay about $10, as for who makes it... Says "Nissan motor co. Ltd. Made in Japan". It's the exact part # filter my wife's '11 maxima uses in the 290 HP 3.5L. If nissan figures it's good enough for that beast I'm good with it on my 1.6.
Wix makes good filters, I've used them on my duramax diesel as recommended by users on that forum. I just know the nissan ones work well for the V so that's what I use.
