Hey, I live in the GTA in Ontario. Correct 5W30 is best for our climates.

As far as oil goes, I just switched to full synthetic Amsoil and there is a slight notice of improvement in power and less noise, in general. I was just running standard oil before, whatever the local dealer or shop I went to for price was using. I think I am going to stick with full syn for my SL, and do changes every 8-10K KM or so. For filter, if you are going to stretch out changes past 3-4 months and 4-5K KM, then pay for a premium filter. Otherwise, just use standard FRAM or other that you can get at CDN Tire or elsewhere. Even EBay you can get Nissan OEM Filters for cheap.

Hope that helps. Really depends on your driving, how hard you drive, how many KM's per year, etc.

Thanks Jason for posting some pics.

I was just under my Versa SL today changing a foglight bulb (what a pain in the butt to get to) and looked for the Oil Drain Plug and Filter. Drain Plug is easy to get to, but the Filter is not so easy. It seems to get best leverage, I would have to remove the plastic engine "shield" underneath first.

Is the Filter really tough to remove? I am considering starting to do my own oil changes on both V's starting next year, since I picked up some Car Ramps and have all the tools (been changing out my own tires too), but that Filter seems really hard for me to get too.

Your experience and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

Thanks Jay and all.

I did a change in December and was straight forward. I did thru the bottom as thru the top was not easy for me.

Easy underneath and I did take off the plastic shield as only took a minute or two to remove.

All in all a relatively easy and enjoyable process.
