Front License Plate Bracket

I have had my car for 4 months now, and the damndest thing happened.
I went to go to the store and when the garage opened I noticed something missing from my car. The lisence plate bracket, including my lisence plate and frame were gone. :yikes: :cussing
There are a few options that could of happened. Some one ripped it off, or the dealership did a half ass job of putting it on.

By chance has any one had an issue with theirs? I'll try and post a pic later to see if anyone thinks it was ripped off or what. I doubt it was because the holes and the surrounding area look fine.

Maybe someone ripped it off?.. because the chance of ALL the 2 or 4 plate screws lossening and eventually dislodging is slim.

Hmm, that is a good point. Or possibly, but not sure if this would of done anything... I wasn't able to avoid a piece of tire on the Interstate the other day (going about 70mph). I heard it hit my car but not sure if it hit the frame/bracket or not.
^ Possible but you might have seen it flying right? Check your bumper for tell tale signs (deep gash, scratch marks etc.) that it was indeed the tire that knocked off your plate. :)
^ Good idea, why didn't I think of that? *doh*
Thanks for all of your input! :thumb2:
*yes, I probably would of seen it fly, and I didn't*
Hehe ;) So go, and be a "CSI" for a day lol
But on a serious note, whether stolen or not, I believe you have to report it to your local DMV (?).
LOL! Will do.
Yes. I do have to report and will a.s.a.p. Plus I don't want a ticket either. It's the law to have the plate on the front. I like it better with out it. Oh well.
Glad to help :thumb2:

..oh and check for finger prints haha
Car does look much better w/out the front plate, but sadly, also a requirement here :(

It is bolted on pretty securely, at least mine was; can't imagine it just falling off unless it was hit or someone removed it.
That makes sense. How ever I have/had the locking screws on my license plate which requires a certain alen wrench. I assume the only way someone removed/stole it was that they had to literally rip it off. Unless there is another way to remove the bracket from my car with out removing my license plate (which cover the screws for the bracket).
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. :)
They'd have to remove your plate, then unscrew the plate holder. I don't think they can just rip it off that easily.
That's what I was thinking. Which leads me to confused as to how it is no longer there.
So annoyed with the whole ordeal. Such is life, I guess.
Dilemma solved!

Well, I recently went to the dealership to get my oil changed.
They washed my car with out asking :cuss: (I don't like them to wash it because they never dry it, and do a poor job).

I called them to get the bracket replaced. Well, just my luck they had it there. They informed me that their car wash tends to "rip" off the brackets (1 out of 20 cars). Especially Versa's according to them.
They put it back on for, that was nice. But from now on no car washes, even though I never wanted to wash it from the beginning.

(sorry for the long post)

Im glad you found it strange that they didn't tell you that they damaged your car
So they had your bracket and plate all along? Or they just replaced the bracket? Why did'nt they informed you earlier?

It was very strange. And I am only going to them because they gave me a deal to get my oil changes for a year @ $11.00 a change.

Yes. They had my bracket and all the whole time (this was Tuesday or Wednesday). They put the original bracket back on with my frame and plate.
I asked why they didn't inform me sooner, the guy said I'm not sure why.

I'm tempted to say screw you and go pay regular price for my oil changes else where, with someone I can trust. This dealership was ignorant from the beginning (when buying the car).
Not to incite anger, but your dealer sucks bigtime! I mean what if you got a ticket without the plate on? Or what if you've already went on the hassle of filing for a new plate?

LOL. I'm done with the anger (well almost). I do agree, they suck big time!
I am so glad I didn't get a ticket, and have to go through the hassle of getting everything filed etc.

Thank you all who have given their opinions, comments etc. :thumb2:
LOL thats retarded! I wonder if they would have covered your ticket if you had been pulled over... probably not...

Thats even worse than those ones that take off your plate frames/covers and replace it with one from their dealer. I remember reading of something like that happening over on TCL. A guy had his own clear plastic covers and went into a dealer to get his oil changed. When he gets the car back right away he notices his covers are gone and its now sporting the licence plate frames advertising for that dealer! He was understandably pissed, and even more so when he found them in the garbage in the service bay.
^ Wow! I too would of been pissed if that happened.
I have no doubt that they would not have covered my ticket if I got one.
I am strongly considering to get my oil changed else where and make sure they don't get my business any more.
