Have been looking around the site.
There's a lot of great info and friendly helpful folks.

Not a Nissan owner yet.
I have been looking at the Versa HB with CVT, but will probably wait for the Note, later this summer.
Presently driving an '08 Honda Fit Base w/stick (noisey and rough riding),
but has been super dependable and great on gas mileage (mid 40's).
I'm retired and probably need a quieter, smoother ride.

Thanks for having such a great site.

Hi JVersa
I too have been reading some bad about older cvt and some good about newer cvt.
Reliability is important to me, and granted the cvt does have a tarnished record.
I was hoping the bugs have been worked out of the newer cvt's,
but would be interested to learn more on the subject.
I did try a 2012 Versa HB with the 6 speed manual and liked it, but thought the cvt would offer better gas mileage. I was surprised that with the standard in 6th gear, engine RPM was 3000 at 65mph. Just like my 08 Honda Fit stick in 5th gear, which I think should be closer to 2000 rpm.
I am confused about the Overdrive button on the cvt. Why ?
Can't seem the find out much info on it either.

No issues at all with the Fit, mechanically. 118,000 miles with just oil, filter and tire replacements.
The patchy and pot holed roads here in Maine, cause the Fit to ride rough and loud.
Tried out a 2013 Versa Sedan and a 2012 Versa HB over these same roads and
the ride is so much smoother and quieter.
Not completly sold on the CVT yet either, I like the gas milage potential, but I am concerned with reliability.
I've always driven standards and may do the same when I finally get a Versa.
What kind of gas milage do you get with your Versa ?
How many miles have gone in the 3 years you've had it ?

Welcome!
Reaching 84,000 kms and I have had the car for 5 years now and no issues with my cvt at all. I've only had to pay for oil changes up until this point.
Sounds encouraging, and I understand Nissan may have made some CVT improvements since '08. Hope to hear of somemore encouraging CVT experiences before looking at the Note later this year.

Don't even get me started on road quality up here in Maine..
There is one road in particular that I travel almost daily, Route 41.
(Franklin and Kennebec County area)
There is about a 9 mile stretch from Vienna to Farmington Falls with patch upon patch, frost heaves and pot holes. They've stopped using cold patch to fill the depressions and pot holes, and now just fill with sand/gravels every week or so. Probably not the worst road in Maine, but pretty bad.
The new Versas handle the roads as well as my wife's Toyota Camry.
The 2013 Honda Fit we tried still rides as loud and rough as my 2008 Fit, but the newer Fit has more padding in the seats, so that's a slight improvement.

Plus the CVT has 200,000KM/8-Year (I think) warranty so, if it blows up, you're covered.
I was thinking of getting a 2013 Versa HB or the new 2014 Versa Note.
The warrenty for the drivetrain of the 2013's (in the usa)is now 5 year 60,000 miles.
I didn't see any factory extended warrenty for the CVTs,
except for 2003-2010 Nissans with the CVTs covered for 10 years 120,000 miles.
Maybe I overlooked something or haven't dug deep enough yet ?
