Hello,
Can someone help me on how to change the serpentine belt? I have 50k miles and while the belt still looks good, I would like to replace it for a little bit of piece of mind.

take passenger side front tire off, undo teh front fender well lining. look right above the crank pulley and youll see the tensioner. use a 14mm wrench to rotate it towards the rear of the car and it should come right off

I would inspect it for wear and cracks. If none there don't replace it. Especially if just replacing with a generic autoparts store belt. An OEM belt with miles on it is better then that garbage brand new. I like gates belts or whoever nissan uses for OEM myself.

any chance accessing the tensioner pulley bolt from above the car so you don't have to take the liner and wheel off?

unless you have tooth pick arms and hands....no....way to tight of a fit

Anyone use the STP Belt Dressing stuff on the serpentine belt?

I suggest not to use any belt dressing. Serpentine belts work on the wedge effect of the belt and pulley. Belt dressing only causes the neoprene to swell for a short period of time. Then it is back to the squealing sound as the pulley bottoms on he belt. Unless you see cracks, or missing "v" sections and it is not squealing on startup, keep the OEM belt on as Rob suggested. .

Let me second the "no belt dressing", that barely worked on the old belts. On new multi-rib one it can make things worse. But, that doesn't stop people from selling it.

The main thing to worry about with belts is tension and structure of the belt. Perpendicular cracks in the ribs aren't a telling sign of wear anymore, it's normal tendency for the belt as it breaks in. The tensioner has a wear/stretch indicator you can see. The pivoting tensioner arm has an arrow, and it sweeps through a mark on the stationary anchor point for the spring, if it's within that mark it's up to proper tension and when it goes outside of that it has stretched and is under tensioned.

Upon request (through their website), Gates will send anyone a belt grove depth gauge to indicate if your serpentine belt needs replacing. Some people think serpentine belts do not wear out but they actually do, just very slowly.

Question...

I need to replace the serpentine belt on my 2011 Versa and I just need to be sure that I identify the belt tensioner correctly. In the attached photo, is the belt tensioner the pulley above the crankshaft pulley that has the 3 bolts?
