Help with keys!

Hi guys. Had my 2007 Versa SL for two years now and no problems until a few months ago, when we noticed one of our two FOB key holders wasn't unlocking the doors anymore or starting up the car successfully (tended to fail about 25% of the time). So we switched to the other one, but now this one is dying as well and as I write this, has been unable to unlock my car after several minutes of futile attempts. What's more, when I withdraw the keys from the FOBs and attempt to unlock the car manually, the keys don't seem to work and the car continues to flash the "no key" light on the dash inside.

I've heard from others with similar problems that a locksmith can replicate the key and allow you to unlock your car. I think I may be able to get the car running using the FOB once I get inside, but until then I'm stuck on the outside looking in. Help?

You have an intelligent key?

It's weird that it doesn't work if you take the key out of the FOB. My intelligent key has been acting up for quite some time as well. But my regular key still works.
my mother has the same issue with her fob, but my dads is fine. This is the second fob. It happened on the first fob. Brought the car in and they didnt know what was wrong, so they replced the fob. same problem
My versa does not have a key fob per say because i dont have power locks. But what i have noticed is the factory keys have some sort of chip or similar in them. I had the key copied at home depot near me the copy can unlock the door and trunk and even turn the ignition into any position, however the copy will not start the car it wont even make the starter engage. Knowing that it seems like your issue might be with the key fob itself. My fob does not have any way to open it to replace a battery or anything like that i would check yours to see if there is a replaceable battery and try that first.

Yes the keys do have chips built into them.

And the remote (for the doors) can be opened up to change the battery. There is a how to video on you tube for that.
