hesitation on startup??

Hi all...been awhile!

we've got an 07' hatchback with 44,000 miles.

It seems like i have to hold the key to the "start" position a little longer than usual. Used to just hold it for maybe 2-3 revolutions of the motor.....now it seems like I have to let it turn over twice that much.

anyone else experience this??? am I crazy??

Maybe give it a little (more) gas as you start it?
Sounds like the normal fuel pressure regulator issue. You can turn the key and wait a few seconds for the pump to prime lines and get pressure up. Then try and start the car. Mine does the same thing. It always starts and I'm not under warranty anymore so I'm not replacing the fuel pressure regulator.

X2

also, i think there was a fuel pump recall a couple years back, since yours in an 07 id check that out.
Hvae u battery checked. It could be going out.
i think its the fuel pressure regulator. its pretty easy to replace. just the fuel pump holder is hard to get out.
hhmmmm.......where is this regulator you speak of??? In the tank??

I'll definately check into the recall also!!

Thanks guys!
the pressure regulator is part of the fuel pump, inside the tank. you will have to pull down rear seats and take out the fuel pump.
as far as i know, there isn't any recall. just a service bulletin.
damn, that sucks......I hate getting into fuel tanks. I guess we'll just live with it.

doesn't cause any other issues does it?? problems with injectors, or fuel mileage???
no it's only the fpr bleeding off pressure. Once it's running it hold the pressure just fine and you shouldn't notice any loss of mpg or performance. Like I stated above I will live with it and priming the lines works perfectly for me.

Nissan makes pumps fairly easy to access. They are just under the rear seat and most pump sit in a nice cradle. I have not done this to a Versa yet but all the old nissans I had were this way. If you do it with the gas light on you shouldn't even have to get too much gas on you.
