On my way home today another driver merged into me on the freeway and I had to slam the breaks to get out of the way.. I went to downshift 6th to 4th and accidentally went 6th to 2nd. I didn't fully let out the clutch but the rpm's spiked around 7500 maybe higher before I popped it out of gear.

Car still runs fine and I don't hear any knocking. Only thing I notice is excessive clutch slip. (not that is gripped well in the first place)

Guess my question is do you think I've done any damage to the engine? Or would it be showing signs by now?

I can afford a clutch, but an engine not so much.

Right on, I do full synthetic every 3-5k. Last time being on Saturday so it was full and fresh at the time.

I put another 50 miles on it today without issue so I guess there's nothing to worry about :wink
