How do I replace my side view mirror?

I broke my driver side mirror backing out of my garage, and I want to go about fixing it myself.

I have ordered both:
Amazon.com: Fit System 68552N OE Style Power Folding Replacement Driver Side Mirror: Automotive

And
(Just in case the first option does not work)

I intend to use the full replacement if possible (the first picture). However, I could really use some help with the replacement of the side mirror.

My car is a 2007 Nissan Versa.

Here are some pictures of the current state of the car:

Will I need to remove my door panel?

I have searched this forum and found:
http://www.nissanversaforums.com/how-tos/1001-how-take-your-door-panels-off.html

But it does not cover how to replace side mirrors.

I also found these guides on the internet, but there are no pictures unfortunately.
to make things short..
my right hand mirror got totally smashed by a hit and run driver, so i had to go to the service center for a replacement..

he had to take of the door panel to reach the cables connecting the mirror with the electronic switch inside the door!

i was watching him closely how he did it and these are the excat steps he took!:

1- he removed the silver part of the door knob
2- he popped out the plastic part of the door handle which has the glass electric switch
3- under the plastic thing he removed there were 2 screws, he took those off too
4- he slide a plastic tool (just like a flat head screwdriver) in the space between the door panel and the actual door
5- he pried the panel all around and then lifted it from bottom up
6- under the panel was a nylon sheet covering the spaces in the door ( i thought that was used to detect any tampering, but it turned out that it prevents the whisteling noise at high speeds!)

All that i didnt pay a single dime :D all covered by the insurance.. (ALL RISK Insurance)

If anyone could be of assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

(I would like help with instructions on removing the door panel if necessary, and how to do it)

I've never replaced mine so Im not sure how to do it but if you open your door there's a round black cover near the door panel, there's a bolt in there, then if you look under the mirror itself there's a screw which should be for the glass. Hope this helps.

I see the bolt that you mentioned. It looks like it connects to the mirror housing, but the service manual mentions that you need to remove the inside door panel. ????

hey can you just replace the mirror glass? I think its 45.00 dollars just for the mirror glass at the dealer. remove the old mirror glass off the base and install the new mirror glass; it clips back on.

I'm not sure. Door panel isn't hard to remove though, just be careful because the clips break easy.
Thanks for the help and links guys.
I am trying to remove the front door finisher as it instructs me in GW-65 step 1:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM//versa/2007/hatch/GW.pdf

So I referred to the EI-29 as it tells me to:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM//versa/2007/hatch/EI.pdf

I have opened the door and window, and disconnected the negative battery cable. However, I don't quite understand how to disconnect the harness connectors (step 5) of EI-29. I don't think I can just pull the connectors. EI-28 (step 5) may be better for me to follow actually, as I am working on the front driver door. Does anyone know how to disconnect those connectors?

I will keep you guys updated as I go, thanks for the help and if anyone would like to offer any advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT:
Now on step 7 but I cannot understand the diagram. Hood is also not closing.

EDIT:
http://www.nissanversaforums.com/how-tos/1528-how-take-your-doors-off-add-lights-speakers.html
Suggests I pop off the door panel by pulling but I cannot seem to get it to pop up and off the door.

EDIT:
Door panel now off. But I cannot figure out how to "Disconnect the harness connector of door mirror."

Page PG68 and see if you can find your connector.

On page PG55 it shows a BR8 connector for the mirror ... But I can't see what a BR8 connector looks like. See if you can find it on page PG68

Just an update - I replaced my side mirror a few days ago.

Definitely thanks to everyone for their help :)
