Not sure if theres a thread for this already, but it'd be cool to get some insight from professionals such as yourselves :smilejap:

I'd love some tips/tricks including products. :thumb2:

I currently am only using Maguires Ultimate Wash & Wax but never actually waxed or polished my V yet.

Do any of you clay bar? I have some nasty deposits and would love some tips and tricks on that as well as products name to boot. :)

Damn! That looks amazing iLuvMyVersa08!

Is there anyway you could jot down a quick step by step list of how you do it?

I dont want to consume a lot of your time, just would love to hear about your technique.

Procedure (descriptive if you could :"D ) - preferred materials- estimate cost of materials would be GREAT! I couldnt thank you enough. It'd actually be worth money to learn a detailers secret. :) You could PM if you don't want to go public ;)

Ive currently been using mcguires ultimate wash and wax and i got to say its kept my car freaking smooth and shineyn like yours. ever since I bought it though i noticed hard black goop in the back bumper and parts of the car. I figured this was something I'd have to pay a few hundred bucks to get detailed but realise now this all they do. They would clay bar it, swirl remover, and wax it and charge me half a grand. hahaha.

I've used 1 bucket so far and have been blessed with no swirl marks. It must be the meguiars I'm using thats kept me lucky. I spray my microfiber sponger with this cool power hose attachment i got to conserve water when i can actually see sedimentation.

Is it true cleaning the roof first and around the sides top to bottom prevents damage? I've trusted that method because people say dirt sticks to the lower part of your vehicle.

Recently I've been washing 1 panel at a time with a grand finale rinse. My hose attachment builds up water pressure and releases it as a pressure washer, mist, shower, or anything in between. not one of those squeeze the handle ones but it twists to unlock and lock. Almost like a spark plug lol. I'll take a pic of it next time I'm out there detailing which I hope is tomorrow. :D

It's no secret lol.

Washed her really well using the two bucket method. Wash top to bottom, small sections at a time. Then I chamois her off. Then clean inside each door jam with a microfiber cloth.

I park her in the garage for the rest. First using Meguairs clay bar kit, I clay a small section at a time. Then I used Meguairs swirl remover, again in small sections. After that I give the car a light coat of Meguairs cleaner wax. Wipe it all off and enjoy :)

I also use Meguairs interior cleaner for the doors and invisible glass for all the windows.

Basically I only use Meguairs. The products can be costly at first but I store them indoors in the winter so I haven't had to replace anything yet. I have a few cars lined up to detail this spring summer so a replenishment may be needed. But if you only clay and wax once or twice a year it should last you a while.

I will do a small photoshoot tomorrow before work :)
Have you ever used turtle wax ice liquid wax? would you recommend it? Do you use mcguiars paste wax or liquid quick detailer wax? Also, what do you use along with your clay bar? Do you need a "lubricant" ?

After hours of cleaning I took her out of the garage today :) clean clean clean. Mmm. Good as new ;)

How often do you clay? I think I might do it only twice a year, this first session is probably its first session so i may go through a few bars lol. Huge pieces of tar like substance on my paint, definitely something clay can remove? By huge i mean the size of rice krispies lol:thumb2:

No problem. Hopefully I was able to help :)

Be sure to post some pics if you can :blue flower:

I'll definetly have some before and after pics posted.

Especially the areas of damage.

You'll gasp in horror at the size of tar build up this poor 4 year old car has. I'm blown away why the dealer didnt take the time to remove it.

Would you recommend claying, touch up paint/clear coat areas where needed then wax?

I wonder how long it takes touch up pen paint to dry.

I might just re-clay the areas I'm about to touch up paint as a porep procedure to remove the wax and dirt filaments.

Your car looks awesome, I'd love to discuss mods with you :)

On a side note, any tips on interior detailing? I got minor scuffs on the plastic dash areas, and teh seats feel like they are fading or something. Maybe I should get covers? I vacuum every 2 weeks, so leaves and stuff ain't a problem.

Excessive vacuuming could be the cause of these minor scuffs and scratches. If they truly are small then use a hair dryer and the heat from it while rubbing it with you hand will level off the coloring and shape. If its deep use a kit from a store or if your feeling lucky a bit of sharpie ink goes a long way. I'd vacuum every 6 months max man, maybe every two week wash your mats. If the mats are placed correctly dirt shouldn't get on the carpet by your feet. Each week I take the time to readjust my drive floor mat so it saves me from accidentally pushing a dirty boot on the carpet lol. Saves time from having to vacuum frequently. Also try Meguiars interior detailer. I'm about to use my bottle today. Its and all purpose use cleaner for interior. Be it dashboard, car seats, door panel, you name it. I'm sorry to hear about your seats, car seat covers are not necessary, I find that Scotch Guarding my V when I bought it in September '11 has kept the color and the material like new. I will reapply the SG a year from that day.

Scotch Guard 5 dollars at Walmart, get the car one lol
Sharpie mini (I'm assuming yours is BLACK) 99 cents at Walmart
Car dashboard restoration kit like 25 dollars at Walmart, I'm assuming yours is BLACK.
Meguiars Interior Detailer about 8 dollars at WalMart
A trustworthy set of mats are priceless, get them from Ocean State Job Lot They have them for about 20 dollars and you could get genuine Michelin Tire ones like me. :D

So about 40 bucks for everything, 60 bucks including mats. Ain't bad since your saving money with your V gas wise ;)

I'll probably start seeing the same scratches. My sister crosses her legs in the car. I don't get it! :banghead: I'm sure it's comfortable, but for safety reasons I never cross my legs. I've threatend her before, I said, "If you keep that up I will have you lick it clean." She still ignores me.
The scuffs and scratches from that may not be as severe as the ones in the back of my car. like a screw driver or the top of a screw scraped the vynal/plastic looking crap.

I've been using Meguiar's Wash and Wax on the exterior since I've bought my Versa. Their Natural Shine interior detailer is great too. I still haven't found a specific type of tire dresser I like a lot yet.
I highly recommend meguiars ultimate wash and wax. Try to use a little less of the soap to water mixture if you washing your glass with it as well. Sometime the wax will leave speckles all over the glass.
