It's anyones guess. But since piston slap is terminal in nature, it depends on driving style more than anything.

I've been lucky. 330 000KM (205 052 Miles) here. Has needed a valve adjustment for a while, and timing chains are starting to get pretty loose. I should do the tensioner pads, but I don't want to invest any more money into this motor, just want to do an MR20 swap when it gives up. Cylinder heads are the same so hopefully i'll get a decent MR20 head, port/polish and see about cam regrind for the existing MR18, then when the time comes for the swap I can just swap the "hot" head over.
