If you follow my other write ups on how to remove steering wheel, and radio this will be easy. This is on a 2009 S sedan with cruise. Directions maybe slightly different for 07-08. But its the same concept.

The easiest way to do this is buy these harnesses. Metra 71-7552 and Metra 70-7552. They will plug into the main wiring, and into the radio. This harness includes the steering wheel control wires, and tells you what color is what. I already had them when I integrated an aftermarket amp with an OEM radio. Once you wire them together, (color to color), find the 3 wires that are radio controls, and get them ready.

Now locate this connector, located under the steering column trim once removed, and pull it out.

If you have cruise on an 09, you will notice there will only be 3 spots open. I went to the junk yard and cut some harnesses off of a salvage Maxima. Pull 3 wires out of the cut harness, and plug them into the connector's 3 empty slots.

Now I had some wire laying around and connected the wires to the steering wheel wires that I inserted into the connector. Next is the tricky part. 2 wires are buttons, and the 3rd is supposed to be ground. I just keep touching wires together from the wires coming from the steering wheel to the radio, until they all worked right.

Only problem I ran into was, the source button for some odd reason, doesn't work on the source button, only on the bluetooth answer/call button. Not really a huge deal. But thats how you connect it. Enjoy!!

Great post, I want to say the problem with the source button is it needs to see a different resistance.

What does resistance mean? I assumed it had to do with the bluetooth module, that's why it didn't work right.

Hi can you repost those picture? It will help me and other people. Thanks.
Pictures have been put back
so.. did you also buy that radio?
Mine is 09 S.
I think my base radio doesn't have bluetooth module.
Which means I have to buy one has bluetooth module.
Am I right?
Any Deck with blue tooth should work. So you do have to either get the bluetooth enabled OEM radio or the Nav package or aftermarket deck
I bought an SL 6 disc radio, but it can be bluetooth, but bluetooth isnt built in. There is a bluetooth module that is under the drivers seat. Thats what makes it bluetooth. Without the bluetooth module, the call/recieve button on the wheel becomes the mode button. I would suggest getting an aftermarket radio with bluetooth for this. I dont know if its possible to add the module, without alot of work. Its better to get OEM bluetooth thru the factory.
Has anyone else done this? I tried adding connections but I haven't seen any resistance changes when I test. Could someone post pictures of which slots are populated?
Ok I ran wires to the three empty slots via a metra harness. No luck. Is it possible that the clock spring connector is different on the 14 note? I see that there's another white connector nearby with 8 connections. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello :)

I followed the steps exactly (I even cut some harnesses off a 2013 Versa and were able to pull out 6 of them to connect them under my steering wheel and behind the radio).

My issue is: I tried all combos possibles...and I only get to work the volume down button out off the source button and the mode button out of the call/receive.
I don't get the volume up/down to work correctly.
My Versa is a 2012 S and everything is just exactly your Versa.

The only thing I'm wondering about....my radio is the base system radio (CY17F), and I guess that maybe that radio does not recognize the inputs properly. It olny has 1 white harness entry in the back.
I see that you had this tutorial with a different radio (CY20D I think), that has more entries in the back....
Do you think that might be the issue?

The connection itself is pretty straightforward...the slots under the steering wheel and three empty slots (6-15 (ground) and 16 behind the radio...)

Let me know if you can :)

Ok, the issue was the radio.

I bought the premium model that was listed for my 2012 Versa (28185-ZW80A) and installed that.

Buttons on the steering wheel now work as intended!
For 1st gen Versas:
This is the proper pinout per Nissan AV Service manual

Connector M30(Grey) on spiral cable / Connector M43(White) Radio

Pin 24 White Wire <-------> Pin 6 Blue Wire
Pin 31 Grey Wire <--------> Pin 15 Black Wire
Pin 32 Brown Wire <------> Pin 16 Pink Wire

I may go poking around 2nd gen wiring one of these days

Adding lighted steering wheel controls
I was wanting to add lighted steering wheel controls to my 09 S hatchback. In the picture it use the same connectors as the in for your audio controls? Mine has the bottom 2 open like the one in their picture. The top one missing on yours is already wired on mine. What's the top wire you were missing for?
I have Versa 09, I have cruise control, added multimedia buttons according to this instruction, everything worked, but when you press the brake pedal, the buttons do not work, but when you turn on the dimensions + press the brake, they work, does anyone know how to fix it?
