If you follow my other write ups on how to remove steering wheel, and radio this will be easy. This is on a 2009 S sedan with cruise. Directions maybe slightly different for 07-08. But its the same concept.

How To: Remove 1st gen. Versa Steering Wheel - Nissan Versa Forums
How to remove the radio trim and radio - Nissan Versa Forums

The easiest way to do this is buy these harnesses. Metra 71-7552 and Metra 70-7552. They will plug into the main wiring, and into the radio. This harness includes the steering wheel control wires, and tells you what color is what. I already had them when I integrated an aftermarket amp with an OEM radio. Once you wire them together, (color to color), find the 3 wires that are radio controls, and get them ready.

Now locate this connector, located under the steering column trim once removed, and pull it out.

If you have cruise on an 09, you will notice there will only be 3 spots open. I went to the junk yard and cut some harnesses off of a salvage Maxima. Pull 3 wires out of the cut harness, and plug them into the connector's 3 empty slots.

Now I had some wire laying around and connected the wires to the steering wheel wires that I inserted into the connector. Next is the tricky part. 2 wires are buttons, and the 3rd is supposed to be ground. I just keep touching wires together from the wires coming from the steering wheel to the radio, until they all worked right.

Only problem I ran into was, the source button for some odd reason, doesn't work on the source button, only on the bluetooth answer/call button. Not really a huge deal. But thats how you connect it. Enjoy!!

Hello :)

I followed the steps exactly (I even cut some harnesses off a 2013 Versa and were able to pull out 6 of them to connect them under my steering wheel and behind the radio).

My issue is: I tried all combos possibles...and I only get to work the volume down button out off the source button and the mode button out of the call/receive.
I don't get the volume up/down to work correctly.
My Versa is a 2012 S and everything is just exactly your Versa.

The only thing I'm wondering about....my radio is the base system radio (CY17F), and I guess that maybe that radio does not recognize the inputs properly. It olny has 1 white harness entry in the back.
I see that you had this tutorial with a different radio (CY20D I think), that has more entries in the back....
Do you think that might be the issue?

The connection itself is pretty straightforward...the slots under the steering wheel and three empty slots (6-15 (ground) and 16 behind the radio...)

Let me know if you can :)

Ok, the issue was the radio.

I bought the premium model that was listed for my 2012 Versa (28185-ZW80A) and installed that.

Buttons on the steering wheel now work as intended!
