Well I don't think that is an SE-R so I would pass. If looking into older nissan's I would get one with an sr20de. There is alot of parts, information and good communities for them. Not to mention the engine can handle alot of mods and is very reliable.

Some examples are:

91-94 sentra SE-R

91-93 nx2000

95-98 200sx SE-R

98-99 Sentra SE-L

00-01 Sentra SE

91-96 G20 (94-96 g20t's are the best)

99-02 G20

I personally have been looking into the 05-06 Sentra SE-R Spec V latly. Ive always wanted a manual car, but didn't want it to be my main car. I wanted an SUV, but with gas prices, id rather not. But this wont be till the V is paid for in like a 1-2yrs. But I heard the 00-03 sentra's with the 2.5 have problems, but the 1.8's are fine.
I agree, many trouble free miles on my 01 with 1.8L, and it was a wee bit snappier than current MR18. I'd love to get my hands on sr20 with stick in any Nissan:D
If you guys are looking into b15 sentras 00-06 (think those are years). The only one to get is the 00-01 SE. It has an SR20DE engine in it and is very reliable. I wouldn't bother with any other sentra of those years even the SE-R's with the 2.5. Try and find the ones with the performance package. They have diff wheels, side skirts, and more goodies.

Cool!!! I like it. I saw an injen intake that claims to give 26hp more, would that really be possible?

I love the 05-06 SE-R's. But Ive got plenty of time. So ill be doing some research on both, for specs, parts, etc. But im prolly gonna go with robj80 since he seems to know his Nissan engines. All I hear from him is the SR20 motors, lol. So it most be one heck of an engine. I want something different, that won't eat up alot of gas, cost a fortune, fun, and something I can learn a stick on, that won't get me in too much trouble, lol. ;)
No way possible an injen will give 26hp. Sorry bout that. It's a great engine but to gain 26whp from an intake alone it would take a miracle.

The 2.5 qr makes more power but it's also larger. The SR20 is a famous engine by nissan and they used it for many years. It is known for being able to handle alot of hp and have great reliability. Do your research and don't just go by what I say. You will find alot of info out there on this engine. Stick to the front wheel drive information otherwise you will just see alot of stuff about 240sx's. Same engine but there are some differences.

The reason I like them so much is I have owned 3 cars with the engine. One of which I turbo'd at 60k miles and sold it at 218k miles still running strong. I have raced my versa against a 92 g20 which was a stock automatic and it made my car look like it was standing still. Imagine if it was 5spd?!? My car was brand new and that car was old and had like 160k+ miles. They are not overly complicated and fairly easy to work on. Not too mention if your into modding the options are plentiful. There are intake manifold, headers, turbo manifolds, intakes, suspension parts, cosmetic parts, performance engine swaps (sr20VE, sr20det). The 99+ g20's in auto are kinda slow and currently is a stable mate to my versa. But still would walk all over it on the highway, and has.

The sr20 are a great motor! Good gas mileage and they can handel a lot od power! They are strong engines! The qr25 are also a nice engine! There are plenty of mods for both engines! If ur looking for power out a 4 banger I would stick with those two! The mr and qg engines are more of a waste when it comes to power....they are meant for mpg....don't get me wrong u can get power out of then but at a higher cost! Go all the way b16 spec!
Here is a great article comparing alot of things between the SR and the QR.

yes it's an sr20de not sr20det. There were no turbo SR's sold in the US or Canada I believe. Though you guys up north can import them I think. We can not :(
