Check it out, new entry level hatch from Infiniti based off the Mercedes A Class platform.

What do you guys think will it spawn off into a Nissan in the future?

I don't think it will spawn off into a nissan. They are trying really hard currently to separate nissan and infiniti as infiniti is really trying to become a player in the luxury market. Hard to do when you can get the same vehicle with a nissan badge.

I do like the q30. I wish it was a true hatch though and not this CUV type vehicle. It's too close to the EX/qx50. I'm actually surprised this isn't being called a qX with it's high ground clearance. If you don't know infiniti naming yet all cars are Q and all SUVish vehicles are QX.
Looks way too big for how small it is on the inside. The Q30 used to be fairly small (it was the same thing as a 96-99 maxima) and now this thing is just going in all the wrong directions. The front of it is still pretty sexy but that's all I'm seeing that I enjoy.

You are confusing the new, never released q30 with the old I30. Two totally different vehicles. The q30 isn't a new I30. The i30 was a midsize sedan. This new q30 is a compact crossover/hatch.

People are calling the q30 the next g20. Though that was a compact sedan I think they are referring to more the fact that it's the entry level luxury vehicle from infiniti and not the body style. Rumor has it that this q30 will spin off a compact sedan in the future though. i <3 G20's

The rumors of Q30 spinning off into a range of vehicles would not surprise me as Audi is going to be doing the same with the A3 as a sedan, cabrio, and coupe. Also Mercedes with the CLA and A-Class.

I think this entry level luxury market is going to be huge in the coming years.

Infiniti has openly admitted they are aiming squarely at audi. They want to recreate and surpass what audi has done in the past 20 years. Not sure if anyone remembers old audi but they were not really a luxury maker. They did some racing stuff and in the 80's were part of a huge unintended acceleration scandal.

Infiniti even went as far as to hire Johan De Nysschen, former president of U.S. operations.

BTW the q30 will be sharing parts with the Mercedes A-class.

It seems that Mercedes and Nissan have some agreements going, rumors. I would love to have an Infiniti with a Mercedes built motor!

Last rumor I read is this q30 and the q50 will be using a mercedes built 2.0 turbo engine. I am kind of sad to see the company that once created the sr20det using engines from someone else but these are the times.
hmm MB for the win 360hp 2.0t awd

Love that car. Wish that was more the way infiniti went. More hatchback, less crossover. Be nice if the AMG tuned engine finds it's way into one of the infiniti's.

very, very old rumor as the q50 has already been released and doesnt and will not use a 2.0t engine from mercedes, still the same VQ37 and VQ35 engines soldiering on in the q50.

Infiniti always carries over the engine for the first year when they change the body. The rumor has always been that I read is that it will happen in the second year of production. I hope they stick with it. But you never know with nissan.

All I have heard is that MB is possibly going to build a powertrain plant here in East Tennessee to ship motors over to Smyrna for the Infiniti line that is over there.

Also heard that the Mexico plant that makes the Versa/Sentra might have a role in the MB CLA.

All the car manufactures seems to still build for each other. Like Nissan builds motors for Chrysler at the Decherd Powertrain Plant. Chrysler basically helping Nissan out with the Titan diesel. Ebb and flow.
Nissan acquired Ram truck CEO Fred Diaz and recently Nissan announced a deal with Cummins to supply diesel motors for the new Titan.

Also recently Infiniti acquired Porsche North America COO Michael Bartsch to take over as CEO of Infiniti America.

Nissan/Infiniti is going to be no joke in the coming years plus Carlos promising autonomous car by 2020.

I doubt it will be a Cummins 6BT probably a 4BT or even smaller i cant see the drive train in the titan holding up to that weight and power without serious upgrades. unless the use ram parts with a nissan body...

According to nissan it's a newly developed 5.0 v8 turbo diesel. I think nissan is rebuilding the titan from the ground up because I agree this is too much engine for anything resembling the current titan.

Also have to remember Chrysler backed out of their deal with nissan which is why the titan had been taking so long cause nissan basically had to start from scratch so any part sharing rumors between Chrysler and nissan is pure false

The old Q30

The old I30

Very very similar but the maxima and Q30 shared the same headlights, tail lights, grill, body, almost everything whereas you can see the I30 does not share a lot of those things but does share the body style. I'm simply saying I don't like where the Q30 has gone over the years and this new model just isn't cutting it in my eyes.

You are wrong that is the old i30 and the even older i30. Here is the infiniti presskit for the older bodystyle.

the one you think is a q30 was based on the a32 maxima. The newer one you call i30, which is correct is based o the a33 maxima. This later became the i35 when the engine displacement was bumped up to 3.5 liters. Both are i30 though. Only time infiniti ever used Q on a car before this year was the Q45 which was their flagship large sedan.

More info on the a32 and a33 chasis otherwise known as the i30 in the infiniti world can be seen here on this wiki page. Nissan Cefiro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This hatchback CUV q30 is an all new model and has no heritage with the q45 or the i30. I think many will agree with you though as I don't think it's the direction many nissan/infiniti fans want.

300HP 5-600FT/LBS IN A 1/2 TON PRETTY COOL. DOHC, probable VGT, common rail. Neat stuff the las 1/2 ton diesel trucks were the horrible 6.2-6.5 Chevys back in the 80s early 90s
