The Nissan system senses changes in voltage to correspond to button pushes. ASCD, or cruise uses only 2 wires
There are 8 wires total for that connector and are
1 for horn
2 for ASCD, or cruise
2 for illumination
3 for bluetooth and radio controls
Is that to say there is a voltage/resistance difference depending on the buttons that are pressed on the OEM control system? Do you know what outputs each OEM button delivers on pressing? Looks like the Rostra switch in their kit uses individual channels for each button to communicate to the controller in 12V?-YES/NO fashion which wouldn't be directly compatible with factory switches if I'm understanding you correctly.

The voltage changes are detected directly by the ECM. They range from 1v to 4v depending on button pushed.
