2008 versa hatchback with 6speed manual. Was coming home and it felt like the brakes were locking on and off plus tach was showing over reving by 1krpm and speed was showing 10mph sitting still lol. Got home, shut it off and noticed brake lights were staying on. While replacing the switch on the brake pedal, I noticed the little rubber grommet was missing. Replaced it as well and lights went out. Worked good the next day but then the Tach, Speedo, and now the Gas gauge keeping fluctuating. Most the time if I shut the car off and restart it, they reset back to normal but after awhile of driving, they mess up again. Its not always all of them at the same time either. Can be any combination of the 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest you check your battery connections first to make sure they are clean and tight. As far as the feeling that the brakes were locking I will leave to to other posters to address that issue. Most of the time when the gauges go wacko it is a lose ground making intermittent contact. Good luck!!!

If the Versa is like my Ford Escort the rubber grommet is needed to take up space and close the brake light switch when there's no pressure on the pedal. When the rubber bumper on my Escort broke into pieces I replaced it with a couple 1/16 thick magnets to take up the space needed to close the switch. I've also heard of people epoxying a couple pennies together and putting them in the space to close the switch. Sorry but I have no ideas about your gauge problems.

+1 on checking battery cables first.

If you are still having these issues, download the service manual(at another site) and you will want section PG specifically.
That will show you where all of the grounds are.

Last thing to consider is the cluster. I haven't heard much about the stepper motors going bad(unlike GM clusters pre 2006), but it is a remote possibility.
