Hi Everyone,

This is my first forum post. Lots of great information shared by all here.

I getting ready for my first transmission fluid change in my 2010 Versa S Hatch 1.8L w/30K miles. I have looked everywhere on-line for a magnetic drain plug. Does anyone know the drain bolt/thread size for a magnetic plug?

Also, any online source or major auto retailer that has it will be most appreciated. :cheers2:

Thank you,

Thank you Red Alert for the video, but it does say anything about the transmission drain plug. I want to replace the factory drain plug it with a magnetic plug.

Anyone know the bolt/thread size for a magnetic plug?
Update #1:

Goal: Replace my stock transmission pan drain plug on my '10 Versa S Hatch 1.8L no CVT with a magnetic drain plug

Status: My Nissan Dealer Parts Dept. does not stock my transmission drain plug and could not tell me the plug specs. Service Advisor said to call their 800 Nissan1 number for tech advisor support. I called...Nissan tech advisor will research and call me back tomorrow.

Stay tuned: I will post more updates on this subject until resolved.
Update #2:

Goal: Replace my stock transmission pan drain plug on my '10 Versa S Hatch 1.8L no CVT with a magnetic drain plug.

Status: No help from the tech advisor at 800 Nissan1. I was told they do not keep data on the drain plug thread size or diameter. He said I need to remove the plug and take it to hardware store and match up the plug. The very thing I'm trying to avoid is draining my tranny fluid, then taking the plug to a hardware or auto parts store for matching when I could just have a replacement magnetic plug ready to install.

Not sure what is next but I will post another update when I finally get the specs on the correct magnetic drain plug.

If anyone is about to pull the tranny drain plug on a late model Versa 2009-2011 1.8L no CVT and can offer some help to this thread it would be much appreciated.
Is there a reason why you are replacing the whole plug?

Many drain plugs are magnetic.
all auto trans plugs I've ever pulled were magnetic already. I looked online and can't find an answer for you. Seems m12x1.25 is quite common though.
Versa12 and robj80:

Appreciate your inputs. I'm going to remove the plug next week with my first fluid change and see what I got. Should be some metal shavings on the plug if magnetic. I think your right robj80...most common drain plugs are M12x1.25. If my plug is not magnetic, I'll be off to the auto parts store to match up with one.

I will report back to this thread on the factory plug following my fluid change.
Hope you post the thread and part number of te plug you get, if you get one. Be very useful for the next guy.
Yes. I will post the part number and specs of the magnetic plug I get "if" the factory tranny plug is not magnetic.
I am also looking for one for my manual 6 speed in my 2009 sedan.

Update: I plan to take my 30K miles 2010 Versa S Hatch to the dealer for a transmission fluid exchange (complete fluid replacement). I will talk with mechanic about the drain plug when it is removed. If the plug is not magnetic I'll get the specs on it and replace it at home. I may lose a little fluid in a plug swap (if needed) but I will have peace of mind knowing I have a magnetic plug.

I will post the part number and specs on a magnetic plug if the factory plug is not magnetic.
