Remember gl4 oil. Think royal purple is the only synthetic on the market and you need an 8 mm square socket. Got mines 3 days later from amazon.

im suprised Cobb left that comment, gotta know that Amsoil, and redline have full synthetics too...(yes, for the versa manual trans.)
anybody that watches this vid and is still under manufactures warranty, i would go with redline(racing) manual fluid(if anything), considering they do have 75-85 like the owners manual shows...not 75-90 regardless, dont change your manual trans. fluid untill the recommended fluid change, IMO... and that would be minimum 30k miles or 36 months...otherwise what would be the reason for the fluid change...

I wanted to start off with synthetic and hope to get a few more mpg. Since you need a 8mm square socket I ordered one on amazon and was suppose to get it before the video was made. Got it 2 days later, so just made and posted video anyway as I couldnt find anything online about changing manual fluid.

Cool, thanks. Please let us know if you get some good mpg results!

I guess I would put in an update, I changed my trans. fluid about 6 months ago(24k miles, 4 years old) with Redline MT-85 gear oil... and havent noticed ANY difference in MPG or shifting (smoothness or anything). Has anyone else used REDLINE gear oil, because on their website they show the MTL 75w80 GL-4 as recommended for my vehicle, not the 75w-85 gear oil... another example is AMSOIL says to use their 75w90 for the Versa, so im confused... 75w80-Redline... 75w85 Versa oem fluid(which is weird because Redline doesnt recommend their 75w85 for the versa), or Amsoil 75w90...??

I got about 15 thousand miles on mines and getting ready to pull the trigger and do the royal purple as I notice some feed back when I shift into 3rd and 5th. Twice now it popped out of 5th. :surprise

Just wished it was warmer out and not rainy on the weekends.

I dont think 5-10 units in weight will make much of a difference. The main thing is its safe for yellow metals.

Just Replaced Manual Transmission Fluid on my 2016 Versa S @ 76,500 miles.
Used Red Line MT-85 75W85 GL-4 Manual Transaxle Lubricant. Took slightly less than 3 Quarts. It is a full synthetic.
Replaced both plugs and both washers.
Old Fuid still looked pretty good.
I'll update with performance difference in the future.

Did this back in November when I hit the service mile listed in manual. I reused everything. It shifts better and gained 2 mpg on average over several tanks. So far its been easy or easier to shift in cold below freezing weather. So far havent missed 3rd gear. I did that a few times and had it pop out into neutral before.

I lost some tranny fluid while changing axle, can’t figure out how to check fluid level or add fluid. Jiffy lube wouldn’t touch it....nothing on you tube? Help.
