Hi,

I owned a nissan versa hatchback, and I installed 17'' wheels with 205-40-r17 tires, so I read that the max diff should be ±2.5%.

I would like to change the tire's size to 215-45 r17 in order to match the original diameter. But I dont know if this size will fit my versa :(

So, my question is what would be the recommended size for my 17" wheels?

some people say that a wider tire will consume more gas, it is true?

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of use wider tires?

thanks in advance

I used 215/45 with no problems so you shouldn't neither.

215 are a little wider than the 205 obviously. So the 205 would be a little stretched, depending on the height that is. The skinnier the tires the more you will feel the bumps so the ride quality would be decreased, not sure how that would effect performance and fuel efficiency but I'm sure it does. I'm no tire guru tho so maybe someone else in here with better knowledge can shine in.
