Hello forum! I've got a strange issue at work in my Versa this morning. I opened it up to find MUSHROOMS growing in the passenger's footwell, under the dash!

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that there was water under the passenger side floor mats, front and rear. I have no idea how it's getting there. There is no water on the floor anywhere other than under the mats themselves. My first and only guess is condensation.

I'll be driving around without the mats for a while to see what happens to the water situation. In the meantime, does anyone have an insights to share based upon similar experience? Oh and... can I borrow some antifungal spray? xD

Do you have a sunroof? If so drain could be clogged or line got disconnected. Also the drain for your AC can also be clogged. Lastly it could be a bad seal on the windshield.

There are a couple of possibilities;

1) Clogged AC drain and it spills into the passenger side. This happened to me. There is a service bulletin on this. It is easier to losen the heat shield underneath and unplug the drain with a wire. The service bulletin is quite involved by replacing some drain parts.

2) There are several bulletins for leaks in the rear passenger side or the front drivers side.

Update: The mats were out all day yesterday and after over 100mi of driving (A/C on at all times, of course, welcome to Florida) there is no water in the car.

I'll check the A/C drain and other leak points but so far I haven't found anything. Again, there has been no water anywhere other than directly underneath the floor mats.

PS: No sunroof, no.
PSS: I didn't eat them, no. I tore them into shreds and threw them the heck out of my car!

Check NTB08-069 Service Campaign on rear sill plate

The AC drain in the sedan is located on the passenger side just under the radio console.

Update: the drain appears to be fine. I poked up the tube with a screwdriver just to be sure; there is water coming out. Inside the car, there seems to be a tremendous amount of water building up along the passenger side of the evaporator box. It certainly looks and feels like condensation.

My car was leaking after rains. Driver side windshield wasn't sealed properly. Are you sure that's not it? I get alot of rain and I'm in Florida.

So what happened?
I'm having the same issue. The mold is making me Ill. Soaking wet under the floor mats only... front & back, both sides. I put baking soda down to absorb the moisture. Now it just resemble dirty snow... there are several posts like this. What's the solution? My car is basic: no sunroof, no windshield leaks, no water dripping on my feet...
