Lol...he's aiming for almost 500hp
WOW that is an aggressive number.
To get to that goal, the first thing I would ask is engine internals. I am sure the 3 stock rotating assembly will not get you there for long. Few other thoughts I would look into head porting, cams, injectors, head studs, fuel pump or pumps, and axles. Info on the turbo?

I just ask because I also had a 500HP goal, it took several more parts, tons of time and some $$ to get there. Currently, I am running 550AWHP on 93 oct at 32-33psi.

Good luck
Well a few words of wisdom....IF 500+ is the goal, internals should be on the list of "must dos". Pistons, rod bearings, cams. And also a question...how is he getting around the direct injection turbo? Was this a non turbo Mazda 3? If it is a stock MS3, I dont know if he has already, but converting to a FMIC from a TMIC is a sure way to more ponies, and all but eliminates heatsoak. 1-2 stage colder spark plug to help prevent spark blow out and detonation, and may also wish to look at a larger fuel pump, walbro 255 or slightly larger with a direct 10awg power wire mod to stabilize voltage drop to the fuel pump during WOT. Still on stock computer with a mild tune or have you guys gone full stand alone EMS?

Oh, ok. :) Obtaining 500 hp, whether its crank or wheel hp may prove to be a lil difficult for the non snailed 3, BUT with enough $$ into it, anything is possible......LOTS of fuel air and spark will be key. Would love to take a peak at his build plans. Do you know specs of the turbo like what AR....what flange the exhaust manifold is. Which brand turbo is it? You know, Borg Warner has perhaps one of the nicest, most efficient designs on the market with their S series extended tipped turbos. Allows for a smaller turbo, if space is an issue, and holds much higher boost pressures. Manual or electronic boost controller? Sounds pretty exciting.
i don't know what all he has plans to do...a lot is in his head and a lot is way over my head, too :D

i do know that it's been in pieces for a long time because we just want to do it right instead of just slapping stuff on and running it, just to have something break and having to fix stuff anyways

motor will be built....but again, i don't know what's in his head about parts, etc.

it's a regular 3, not a speed.

ok, here's the turbo:

Garrett GT28R72 Turbo
Well the gt28r will net you ~400hp tops.. pending the hotside, boost level, and fuel used. I think a realistic goal would be 75-100 hp over what you have now.

He WILL need to do rods and pistons to get there thu. This would also include injectors, pump, FPR, and I would seriously look into an EBCS (electic boost control solenoid)to keep the spikes down. Also the stock ecu may not be able to handle this load, so a stand-alone unit may required.

To stretch out to near 500hp he will need a minimum of a GT35r or a pte 6262, or comparable. I am not trying to rain on your parade, but your parts list and your goals are not in line. Wish you luck thu..

Edit:... Looking at the Mazda3 forums, it looks like his goal with the parts listed are closer to 200-275hp range. The Trans looks to top out for reliability ~275hp without some attention to 3rd and 4th gear.

Don't, looks cool.

Should make it a sleeper.

Should've made 3 daily driver and done this to Versa...people would be like "wtf just went by me?!" But yeah, obviously more parts available for 3 and much easier to do.

Dont...when people found out I was working on replacing the single turbo on my Neon SRT-4 with a twin turbo exhaust manifold, no one believed it would/could be done. Didnt believe that it would flow enough air with the 2.4 motor.... It lives...:) But yeah like myself and a few others have said internals are a must. My SRT-4 is turboed from the factory and i still had to do internals to get beyond 500+whp. Still this makes for a great read. Dont delete it. This is what tuning/modding is ALL about. :)
I don't want to get in stupid arguments over what parts he should get blah blah blah. I was just sharing his build a little bit and if this is how the thread will turn, I will just delete it.
