My parents new ride... Nissan Rogue!

So my parents just sealed the deal on an 08 Rogue SL AWD tonight. It has been meticulously taken care of and they bought it through a nearby dealer (Collins Nissan in St. Catharines). Took it out for a test drive last friday night, then tonight took my mom to drive it for herself since she will be the main driver of it (although I will be borrowing it for snowboarding trips:biggrinjester:). Its got Heated seats, moonroof and the cvt with paddle shifters. Seems to drive super smooth, and in searching forums couldn't really find any REAL complaints about them, so it seems like a solid car. Bought the 200,000km/10 year warranty too. I don't know the actual name for the colour but its a nice blue colour. I will post pics when they get it on monday.

The dealership was awesome, great people there, so far it has been an all round awesome experience. We will have 3 Nissans in our family now (my V, my sister has a sentra, and now moms rogue!)

Sounds good! Lots of our family members have Rogues, they love them ...

The CVT automatically comes with the 10 year/200,000 km warranty. They shouldn't have had to pay extra for that.
What warranty did they end up upgrading to?
Its a comprehensive warranty. Not just power train :)

Best part is the 200,000 km/10 years starts at the time of sale... so it has a comprehensive warranty until well over 200,000 km. I made sure to check into the details and fine print and it seemed it couldn't go wrong. Although that might last 5 years with how much we drive lol. Oh the joys of living in the country.

I searched the web and couldn't find too much bad about rogues, so it seemed like a pretty safe buy. The only other vehicle he was considering was a pontiac torrent and the interior and just general quality of it was nowhere near that of the rogue. I can't wait to steal it for snowboard trips :)
Ya a few coworkers have the Rogue as well, and have only ever said good things. Most just say they "avoid Plaza" at all costs.

The warranty through Nissan is pretty good. I haven't had to pay for anything but oil changes which is great.

Best of luck to them with the Rogue! I'm sure they will enjoy it.

Thanks!

Yeah I already had my time with Plaza. Which you know and can relate to. When my dad told me he was checking their website my response was what the hell for?

It is a Blue colour... not too sure what the official name of it is, but it is simliar to the colour of your car bluvee.
Aren't those 2.5s?
When my maf sensor went on sentra, Plaza blamed me cuz i used a non-nissan air filter. total total crap. replaced it with after market maf sensor, still working when i sold it over 300000km
Enjoy that Rogue, nice car! Hope Collins treats you well too
08V. Plaza likes to make us feel as though any issue is our fault. They have the worst customer service ever. I dont even know how they still exist!
So u gotten to drive it? Rouge are nice but just seem to be a over price sentra...they use the same frame and engine from what I read..qr25 powers it like the ser..but it is a nice little crossover...look like they have lots of room. Lot of sentra guys been wanting to try to get the awd on the sentra...but no luck. The color should be the same as my spec v...blue metallic code b17

I put the problem in bold for you. Those people are such a waste of skin.

As for the rogue and sentra using the same engine/chassis... I have no idea to be honest. I know it is the same engine from the 2.5 altimas and the same transmission as the murano since 2003. It is definitely bigger than the sentra. I', 6'1 and can adjust the drivers seat how I would drive comfortably and then sit behind the drivers seat comfortably. In a sentra (my sister has one) I feel cramped in the drivers seat alone.

And yes I did get to drive it. My mother will be the main driver of it, and for her it is perfect. I found it beyond boring though. I tried putting it in manual mode and using the paddle shifters but it feels so fake and slow. Its a small suv for a 55 year old to drive, it doesn't need to be exciting. It is a comfortable ride though.

Haha yea it has the qr25 which the sentra se-r and altima have.lol the spec has the same engine but tuned more different internal well ssome blah blah..but yea. I never understood why they do small engines in the suv/crossovers..my omo has a exterra with the 2.4 manual and thing don't want to move.lol
It comes down to fuel economy. My mother is a bad driver to say the least so its probably better that she has something on the slow side :biggrinjester:

Plus I know that is a good engine, we know 4 or 5 people with it in their altimas and they are all up over 200,000km's without issue.
So the 2.5 cvt rogue sounds as uneventful as my 2.5 cvt altima. Strangely, it's more satisfying to drive it like a Buick, instead of exploring its limits:D
Depends which buick... GN? Regal GS? :p I kid. Yup its pretty uneventful. I have driven 2.5 altimas and they feel like rocket ships by comparison lol. They are a nice, smooth driving vehicle though.
My Dad has a 2009 FWD Nissan Rogue SL. I think he has close to 60,000 trouble free miles on it. Gets about 27 28 MPG in cold weather. Closer to 30 in warmer weather.

actually it is not crap. it is completely true. The nissan filters are oiled lightly from the factory. I sell parts in a nissan dealership. Trust me, any MAF failures are always accompanied by an aftermarket filter
