my tire was real low this morning

4115 Views 19 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BluV3R18
so I got up this morning....
saw my front driverside tire really really low....
I pumped the tire back up....

then...

I turned the wheels to the left....
I jacked the driver side wheel high enough....
I put the car in neutral....

and I'm spinning the tire looking for something..but I can not find any nail or any cause to blame the flat...

the tire has warranty but I hate going there because they're full all the time and I have to wait..
I was hoping to fix the tire but I can't find anything to fix

no clue...

Spray the tire with water, keep your ear close to the tire and if you hear anything or see the water start to bubble or spurt then you know where the leak is coming from. Did you happen to get any cooler weather in the last week? Sometimes you'll have to pump more air into the tire when the air condenses.
I used the bicycle pump... haha don't care. a pump is a pump... tire still has has 40 psi so must be a real small leak. didn't drive my car yesterday

Yes, it was it the 40sF at night, now it feels like 80F
Haha, I see you're prompt with updating posts on the notebook. Awesome!

fixing the spray water.... :thumb2:
Another way is have a slight mixture of soapy water inside a spray bottle, try that too. If you see bubbles coming up, then you know where the slow leak it located.

didn't find anything with water... maybe the soapy water will do the trick. something came up and had to quit checking, and just put the hubcap back on. was going to remove the tire but I was able to turn the wheel, put it in neutral and spin the wheel with my hand to look for the nail or whatever.

I was going to use a plug kit to seal the hole if it was small

ohh I use the netbook a lot, we have a password secured netgear wireless router. where I live :house: the netbook :kybrd: picks up... like 10 wireless routers :stickpoke: but they all have passwords :nono:

don't forget to check around the valve too. i see you have steelies, but alloys are famous for leak around the valve stem in my experience
an update on this... the tire seems to be fine but I found a leak on my back right tire.
I came home from work and I was checking my tires, and I walked around and because it was rainning, my tires were still wet so I heard a little tiny whistle, very very very low...I was like oh oh. I got down on my knees to track the sound and I found it.
thanks to the rain I was able to hear it. this is back tire on the right side passanger side
I was sprying lysol cleaner
Gotta love the soapy solution trick, works every time! I'm glad you found the culprit.

Thanks man!

Well, because I found this leak, I went ahead with the surgery :thumb2:

My driveway is downhill a little bit so safety first

then I used my nissan jack.. I didn't know I had one. I was like wow!! OMG! I thought I didn't have jack!

took the tire off...

tire dropped to 20psi, but it never went 100% flat

soapy water again, actually lysol to find the leak because I couldn't locate it

and here's the tire plug I was about to use. 10 bucks at advance auto parts

and start the surgery

then I had to cut the extra end flus whatever is called...

then pump the air back on...

40psi just to see how it holds

sprayed more lysol and no bubbles!! :thumb2:

then I installed the tire back on and look who came to say Hello!
Hello Kitty!!

check out his face!!!!!!!!!

this is the spot I used to jack up the car

and it looks like I did a pretty good job! went for a drive and its still holding 40psi :woot:

that's about it! :thumb2:

ohh btw,
I'm already planning to replace all 4 tires with something good!!

^yes i was going to bring the baldies to your attention. Good job on the plug. I've never done one yet. I should keep a plug kit in the car and some soapy stuff. Does glass cleaner foam up as good as all-purpose cleaner? And i keep windshield washer fluid in the hatch, will that bubble up too?
If there's a macro setting on your camera, that will help with the close-ups. Good write up:)!

thanks, I have some bad news and good news.
I checked the same tire this morning and it was 40psi, good news, not the bad news is that the front tire was low again!!!

so it is 11PM and I'm fixing to remove the front tire off, and I'm going to take it to the bathtub with the valve stem cap on and fill the tub 1/2 with water and see if there are any bubbles.
I really don't care at this point, I must find the leak.
I'm thinking it might be the valve leak, I hope is not a valve leak we'll see....
I will have to clean the tub

I'm not sure if washer fluid could help find the leak, I'm sure any cleaner can do the trick as long as it makes bubbles
No bubbles...no leak, no nail or anything. the funny thing is the right front tire is fine is just the front left side that I'm having an issue with. I did spray soapy water, no bubbles.
now my bathtub is dirty.I'll clean it before I go to bed. I took a few pics I can share I guess... too much time on my hands! :cheers2: not really
found leak on left rear side tire, looks like a nail. time for another surgery LOL

this is freaking awesome!!!! LOL

the versa rotors....

suspension...

here's that mess I made in the tub... don't try this. is not worth it

use soapy water, maybe dishwasher mixed with water and a good water spray bottle will do the trick
back tire removed

found the nail

after fixing that leak I'm out of rubber cement glue

that's about it. Good night!

Last Sunday after church I noticed the front tire going flat again, but really bad this time

when I got home, I took the tire off, and I finally found the leak...

I found out by spraying soapy water on the steam valve and saw bubbles. took the GF's car and took the tire to walmart to get a second opinion and they said it was the stem valve pin and they helped me fix it.

No charge for it, they had that little tool to tight the valve tem pin. gave them thanks, drove home and installed the tire back on and the Versa and the problem is solved.

sometime after xmas I will get 4 new tires
