In my 2.5 years of having the navigation, I have never had this issue. You can put the navigation system in service mode and run a self test to see if there is anything going on. To do that just turn the radio off. Then while holding the setup button, take the right knob and do the sequence of left, right, left, each a quarter turn. That should put the unit in service mode to do the self test.

The self test checks out normal, i don't know what the deal is, it did have a low voltage warning in the history once, could that have caused the issue?
I'm thinking it might be the controls on the steering wheel causing the issue, is their a wire i can disconnect from the back to troubleshoot the issue?
In the self test menu, you can verify if all the steering wheel controls are working. I would just go through all of them and verify that the navigation is picking them up or see if there are any false positives happening.
