Kicker is overrated IMO. I've heard too many stories of them blowing after a few months. And I've just never liked them. My suggestion would be something from rockford fosgate or pioneer, as long as its not their entry level line of subs. (Like Rockford's prime level) I've also heard good thing about alpine, although I've never owned them myself (my friend swears by his type-r's).

My sub and amp are Boss. I love them. I heard a lot of bad reviews online for them, but bought anyway cause of the price. As long as you don't expect them to perform like a $200 sub, they're great.
