i have a 08,i dont know why the car wont start, when i turn the ignition theres a very dimmed icon of battery and another icon on top of it, no other light/icon shows up. there are no clicks nothing happens besides the battery icon going off when i try to start it. i also turned off the radio thats hooked up to a sub/amp before starting car. when i got the car jumped and drove home i tested the batterys voltage while running and its at 13.5, when the engine is off the battery has a 12.8 volts. also light or radio wont turn on if i try it. there are no corrosion on the battery post, all the wire are connected, what could it be, a fuse, the alternator, battery?

need advise soon, thanks in advance.

Since you can run the car after the jump, the problem may still be in the battery. When you test the battery while it is hooked up to an idling car, you are actually checking the voltage that the alternator is putting out. That should be closer to 15V. The higher voltage runs all the devices and charges the battery at the same time. If you have the means, swap the battery with a known good battery. That will tell you if the problem lies in the battery, or somewhere else in the system.

You can take the car to AutoZone or any other parts store that offers free testing. They will wheel out a test cart and hook up your car to test battery and charging system. Besides voltage, car batteries can be rated by cold cranking amps (CCA). The voltage may be fine, but the CCA may be low. It's the amps that start the car.

yeah i would take it somewhere they will check the alternator and the battery for free at most large auto parts stores, I'd be pointing to the battery, but the alt should be a bit higher. but I am pretty sure it is one of the two.

Yes, and it's on there TIGHT.
Disconnect the negative post first to avoid any short circuits.
I broke the nut loose on mine by using two breaker bars on both nuts on the top of the "fuzed link"
One broke loose, but in order to get the other off, I needed to use a vice grip to clamp the plate where the first connecter was.

Normally the problem is with the battery if the car is not starting. Some auto dealer run a parasitic test in order to identify the real problem.
