Hey folks,

New member from Trinidad and Tobago (in the Caribbean)!

I drive a JDM Nissan Tiida. The car is a nov 2004 model ....and was sourced as a used car directly from the Japanese market (used import) some years aback (around late 2006).

As the name implies, it's beige.

No mods or anything really planned, since the car is intended for daily duty.

Not sure what the other markets get, but this car has:

1) Auto A/C (climate control?)
2) HID headlights (OEM)
3) 1.5 HR15DE w/ CVT trans
4) emergency brake (handbrake?) mounted in the footwell.

That's my humble offering!

Welcome to the forums.
auto climate is nice. The SL's on this side of the pond definitely should have came with that.

I thought the HID headlights had projectors on the OEM units?

We don't get the hr15de here only the hr16de and mr18de. Only the MR can be had with the CVT and all of our cars have handbrake in the center behind the shifter.

Welcome to the forum.
Hey there, thanks for the welcome.

Well no this car, and others like it don't come with any projector setup.

Local Tiidas either have HIDs or not. The early HID's have a big silver "cylinder" which covers the bulb (ul see it in the pic)....the non-HID models have the halogen bulb exposed somewhat.

Later models I believe came with the projecting lens etc etc.

I was surprised as well when I first saw it.

Keep in mind this car was imported as a used vehicle directly from Japan. The Tiidas/Versas that are sold *new* locally by the Nissan dealership (in Trinidad) have similar features to teh US cars from what you've said e.g.
- no climate control
- "conventional" handbrake behind the shifter
- no HID
- HR16DE w/ 4 spd auto ONLY

etc etc

I'm from Trinidad too! But I live in Canada. Glad to see another Trini on the forums ;) lol

I think I've seen some other guys from Trinidad but from the other forums, unless I'm mistaken.

But nice car and welcome to the forums! Doing any other mods to your car?
Hello welcome to the forums :)
Thanks again for the warm welcome folks!

No mods to the car really. I have two other cars which fit the bill in that regard :)

This Tiida is primarily for daily traffic duty etc.

It's a fantastic car, and the CVT is quite a hoot to drive all things considered.

My only gripe is that jeez....the seat padding has gone flat! Now, I tried to have it re-upholstered, but it hasn't helped.

Anyone ever fit aftermarket seats in this thing?
Welcome! It's weird seeing the wheel on the wrong side :p How many kms/miles (I'm not sure what system you use there lol)

What do you mean by handbrake on the footwell ?

can you post some pictures ?
You know seeing the right hand drive tiidas makes me want to get one. I think he means the foot operated ones on the fire wall like you have in trucks out vans didn't know that was on cars though.
Thanks again for the warm welcome folks!

Hi and Welcome! your Tiida looks neat, really like the climate control :thumb2:

I figured out it would be something like that, but I'd like to see some pictures, to be sure.

If it is possible to get that working on my Tiida I will do that, if get the $$$$$
^^Hey there, I'll see how best I can organize some pics for you today. But yes, unlike other cars where you have the emergency brake as a hand brake behind the shifter, this has a footwell mounted pedal that you press to engage the "handbrake".

I just have a storage area where the handbrake "should" be.

Honda Streams in our country come with that setup as well. Weird.

How many kms/miles (I'm not sure what system you use there lol)
Car is doing over 90,000 km (that's like what....56000 miles?). I purchased the car like a month ago from a family member, so I haven't put those miles on it myself :)

Hey danilo, I took some pics. My phone isn't helping the cause here, but I do hope they get the idea across.

Here's you guys would have a "normal" handbrake in the Versa. My tiida gots nothing there lol

The "handbrake" / "e-brake" pedal is on the left.

Yeah the pedals need to be cleaned, I know!

And no, that ain't a clutch pedal - car's automatic (well, CVT)!

Here's another thing....do the USDM CVT cars have the "Sport" button on the gearshifter?

My car has an "S" button, right there the std automatic Tiida's have the Overdrive button.

Switching "on" the Sport mode causes the car to jump to 3.5-4.5k rpm depending on speed.....which is pretty much having the car maintaining higher ratios for better acceleration (no big deal).

Do the USDM cars have that? Or do they call it "Overdrive" in the states?

Yep Chuckie has his e-brake on the floor to the left also. I haven't noticed where Dave's is.
