Hey Everyone! I just have to say I signed up for this a few days ago, and all this information is GREAT! I am getting really excited to pick up my Versa. I've been waiting about 4 months for it from production and I pick it up on the 30th and I am beyond excited, especially after reading all of this.

I was a proud owner of a '93 Nissan Sentra when I was a teen and it was an AMAZING vehicle, until it's bitter demise on Valentines Day 2004 when I was t-boned, and then bought a '93 Toyota Tercel and did I ever miss my Sentra. I am now driving a '02 Ford Focus and although I have had good times with that car, I am counting the days until I can get rid of it, as Fords are....problematic to say the least!

Anyways! I bought the base 2011 Nissan Versa 1.6, so no A/C and no stereo for the simple fact that I wanted standard, and I wanted a Sedan. I'm going to install a deck when I get the car, and hopefully it goes without a hitch.

Just a couple questions, the speakers that come stock...are they total garbage? Or will they be alright for a few months?
Rims...I read up a lot about rim and tire size, but what would you say the biggest I can go is?
A/C and Cruise....is there any way to add this to the vehicle or would this be totally expensive and unreasonable?

Thanks for all your info in advance!! :spiral:

Welcome!

The 1.6 model actually comes with AC it's the 1.6 Base which does not. So I guess you got a base. Unless models are different in Canada.

The stock speakers are fine for the casual listener but if you enjoy music then they are junk. You will be fine for a little bit but you will get tired quickly of them.

I can't comment much on the wheels but I've seen up to 18's on a V. Guess it depends on the tire size too.

As far as adding AC and Cruise they would be very costly. I am betting more money then getting them from the dealer in a higher up model. But you need to have the 1.8l engine if getting cruise as it wasn't offered on any of the 1.6's.

I love my 1.6 by the way. I just got 43 US mpg's on my last tank. I am almost at 70k miles and haven't had an issue yet. She has been perfect. By the way does your car have power windows and locks because according to nissan all 2011 built after 12/10 will have power windows and locks no matter what model. Then again that was nissan USA so it might be different north of the border.

Yeah the two options I had was Automatic with A/C or Manual and no A/C.....double edged sword, but I will not drive an Automatic.

Right now I am running in my Focus two Alpine Type R Subs in my car off two Alpine Amps, and I have 4 Alpine speakers (but only two work because I procrastinate). But I'll most likely swap it all over to my new car and buy some new speakers.

The mileage I get now on my focus is pretty good in the city but the highway is TERRIBLE!

Mine does have power windows and locks, but from what I'm reading, apparently there's no key fob, so I'm assuming you have to manually stick the key in the lock cylinder to unlock the door, and then push the power lock button.......
If this is the case it seems pretty stupid to me.....

My dad is pretty phenominal when it comes to purchasing vehicles and buys all his cars from the states and imports them to Canada, he ended up getting a ridiculous deal on this car, and the dealer in BC is now doing what my dad did to purchase the cars to get a crazy mark up. Pretty awesome!

I can't wait to get into it, and smell it and touch it haha. Sounds so weird but I've never had a brand spankin new car!!

How long have you had yours for Robj80??

odd that those were your only options if ordering it new because you can get AC with 5spd. That is exactly what I got.

Mine doesn't have power windows or locks. That wasn't available when I bought mine. As far as locking and unlocking you will have to stick the key in the door but if you turn the key twice it should lock or unlock all your doors at once. No need to push the button. You may also be able to add a FOB at a later time but might also be costly.

This was also my first brand new car. Mine is a 2009. I bought the 1.6 April of 2009 which was the month they were released in my area.
Awesome! I'm glad you like it though, makes me even more excited to get mine. This forum is wicked, it's like a little Versa family.
Welcome to the to forums. I love mine too and I've had it for over 3 years, approaching 50km and no major issues. Having that new car smell is pretty awesome. It's a nice feeling to pull out with a brand new car ... Where in Canada are you? Did you order your Versa? My dealer had to find me the one I wanted but it only took a week to arrive. Post up pics when you get the car.

I'm in Edmonton, but my dad lives in Kelowna so he did all the work for me to find it haha. Got about $2500 off the original price the way my dad did it. I don't know all the details as he's in Germany right now, but it's taken about 4 months from them building it to it being delivered to the dealership in Kelowna.

I will DEFINITELY be posting up pics!
Welcome, hope you enjoy you "spanking" new ride. =)
Me too, hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a lemon like my Focus or I'll end up hulk smashing the versa to smithereenes!!

Most of us have had very little go wrong with them. All I do is the oil changes and changing of the in cabin filter. Not much else needs to be done.

Welcome to the forums, I have a 09 S got it july of 09 it was also my first new car and I love it iv had a few problems with it nothing major (new batt 3 days after I bout it, steering joint and ignition switch) all covered under the warranty I just hit 46k miles only thing I have had to buy were new tires.
Welcome to the forums, glad to hear we have another 1.6 member. Enjoy it(when you get it) and post pics when you can.
NEW BATTERY AFTER 3 DAYS!?!?! Wow, that is ridiculous. Good thing warranty covered that!! I work at a dealership and not even our warranties would cover that (well a 1 in 10 chance that it would ever be covered). That's crazy.
The car was one of the first 09s they had got and they never really used it so between that and they think the batt was a bad one it went bad fast lol but its ok yeah I was a little upset at the time but I understand and they did give me a new batt.
Hi, Im new to this forum! I have a 2011 Versa Hatchback and at 4000ish miles my brakes started to intermittently squealling! Anyone else have this problem? I plan to take to dealer, however, it's intermittent.. so I get there and no squeal

Welcome! And yes I have had the same issue! I don't have a versa but my girl does and seemed when they would warm up they would squeal! Dealer told her its from her pushing the brake down too far causeing a clear film over the rotor....don't cause any harm or decrease in braking and it will go away! Personally I think bs because she don't mash the brake atleast when I'm with her or when I drive and does it too...but it did go away with time though...I haven't notice the issue for a few months

The Versa is assembled in Mexico so 'hopefully' your ride or any V owner doesnt turn into a lemon. There might be a few rattles in the dash, but that's an exception.
Brake squeal happens when the rotor's get a glaze on them. Tell her to take it on a highway and get going about 60-80km/hr (No idea what that is in miles) and slam on the brakes, the heat will take all the glaze off the rotors. It's pretty normal, and especially if she isn't applying the brakes very often or she brakes really lightly. The dealership you talked to is full of morons if they say it's from applying the brakes too heavily. I work at a dealership, and even I KNOW this!!

I'm sure other drivers and 18 wheelers are prepared to stop as well when that happens.
Apply brakes moderately, and give er some gas to maintain speed. Warms up the brakes pretty quick! Removes moisture, glazing, and any light rusting that may have propogated overnight, especially on humid days like today in southern Ontario.:(
