Newbie here with a Key Question , ha ha

I am new to this site & New to Vera's so I know NOTHING about them.
My issue is , I got a 2011 Versa S at an auction, come to find out it has NO KEY .I Know I can call a lock smith or take to dealer, so no need to comment that . ha ha
MY question is
IF I can find another ignition switch at a junkyard (with key) would this work or would it still need to be reprogramed ?
Also which type of key should my versa have ?

Thanks in advance

Welcome- modern vehicles like your '11 Versa use chipped keys that are required to unlock the ECM and immobilizer system. If you're new to cars, forget about trying to reprogram a used ignition for your Versa. Take it to a Nissan dealer and bring all your title and ownership info to purchase new keys. It's the cheapest option for you.

2011 is chipped.
You would need to get ECM, BCM and ignition lock with the key from the same donor car, but it must be your same car's year, trim and options.

You can't use a 2010 or 2012.

If you get those you need to swap and replace those parts in your car and it should start right there (you would get a match between stored key info in the ECM and BCM and they key you would be using).

It's easier and cheaper to get a new key at Nissan, but if the donor car you find comes with cruise control and yours didn't, then you might want to think about it...you would need those parts mentioned above, plus the cruise control brake switch and the steering wheel controls
Thanks everyone for your replies and sorry for the late response , I was on vacation & just now getting back to it
so sounds like It'll be a lock smith or dealer

How would I know if it had a chipped key or not (without having the original) ?
Read off the VIN to a dealer and s/he may be able to tell.
