Is it possible to get 140hp out of a hr12ddr safely with just more boost and a tune ?
You have to define the word "safely".............why try an push an engine way beyond its designed capability?? I guess you could get 140 hp out of it, but for how long, and at what cost. I remember guys that would put nitromethane in their two stroke motorcycles and the bike would take off like a cannon. As for the longevity of the engines, that's another issue. The more heat and stress you put on an engine that is not designed to take it, the faster it will need to be rebuilt. Its your choice...................

Your engine is already supercharged. I remember looking into it cause I wanted the supercharge lol. And nissan looked at alot of things so the air flow is just right. If I remember right the compression ratio is at 13 so tuning that or trying to increase it to 14 is genna cost you for a minimal effect. The only realy option is a smaller pully and tune with maby an exhaust and that might get you 20hp or 30hp which would be a generous estimate. For what you want I would get an mr20de it make 140hp and 147 ft lbs of tq the only catch is you are going to need to get the ecu and other components to go from 3 cyl to 4 cyl. But if you are genna go that route then get the mr16det you would have 188hp and 177 ft lbs of tq (american specs of the juke and sentra). And your gas milage shouldnt change to much should be mid 30s in theory. The other advantage is it is factory it made for the type of power with no problem and if your are luck you can find the nismo juke ecu which will get you a little of 200hp but lower the gasmilage as trade off.
