There are rules to customizing a car???

Doesn't that make, "custom car," an oxymoron???
In the car world - yes....in a sense.

Fake badges don't make any sense whatsoever. Putting a GTR badge on a vehicle that isn't a GTR or doesn't have a GTR model makes absolutely no sense. What exactly does GTR mean? What is the point of putting it on a vehicle when there is absolutely no correlation between the badge that has been added and any minuscule thing of the vehicle? It makes as much sense as putting a Toyota emblem on your Versa. If you speak with true auto enthusiasts it is simply comical and "rice". The same with fake hood scoops, they just look tacky, it is a waste of money, less aerodynamic, and screams, "i know nothing about cars other than what is in the custom section at autozone". Why not use the money towards actual things instead? If you like rally cars, save the money on fake parts and save it towards a suspension that is more rally like.

Custom Car being an oxymoron? What?
An oxymoron would be a "little mountain", "controlled chaos", or "jumbo shrimp". Two words that mean the opposite thing when referring to one thing. Custom car is not an oxymoron.

Look, when I first got my cars I put all sorts of stupid rice crap on my vehicle that i thought looked cool and became infuriated when people made fun of my car. Now that i've gotten older and have actually become an auto enthusiast who worked at an auto shop, customizes my own vehicles, work on my own vehicles, converted my Honda from automatic to manual, and drives 8+ hours each way (minimum) twice a year for various Import Auto shows, I know what is a clean/tasteful car with actual time and/or money invested versus buying random plastic crap, a roll of 3M Automotive tape, and sticking anything to it that I can. You will learn with time just as most of us do. I look back and cringe on the stupid things like Altezza tail lights, chrome hubcaps, exhaust tips, yellow seat covers, and more. It would have been far better looking and more fun to have taken that money and bought actual wheels, suspension, or a paint job.

In the end, it is your car and you can do whatever you want to it. But, you'll quickly learn that it will get judged and comments will be made whether you like it or not. By the way, I see the car was a gift. Enjoy it and take care of it. I have much more respect to someone who appreciates things they are given and takes care of them/values them then someone who gets something and just trashes it because it isn't top of the line.

But yeah, these cars are pretty junky. Here is a list of my problems on a car I bought brand new and now has less than 60k miles:
Trunk light was never installed
Dealer broke my rearview mirror before I was even handed the keys after I bought it
The entire electric steering had to be replaced at ~8,000 miles
Random misfire happened a few times causing a CEL with only a few thousand miles on it. Dealer couldn't find a problem.
Exhaust heat shield has failed and been replaced 3 times
Exhaust pipe rusted out twice. Had to patch it back up myself.
About 10,000 miles ago an intermittent issue comes and goes. My vehicle will not accelerate with the right turn signal on and will turn off cruise control when the right turn signal is activated.
Had to replace the accessory belt.
Dealer kept telling me I needed to replace rotors and pads - even after I completed it myself.
With the recent cold, i have been getting some awful metal on metal drivetrain noise.

Does your car have paint on it???

Why???

Doesn't a car that's not painted work just as well as a car that's painted???

Do you paint the break calipers on your cars???

Why???

Don't calipers that are not painted work just as well as painted calipers???

If I save money, instead of buying these other accessories, and get my car painted as you suggest, will it make my car run any better???

However, your post did inspire me.

I'm going to get a custom plate made for my car. It will say

RICER

HaHaHa

I guess you can't have any plates with anything "racial," on them so I might not be able to slip this one by them HaHaHa

You had to look up what 'oxymoron,' means didn't you HaHaHa

What makes you think I care about your opinion.

You probably just come to forums like this during your refractory period when you're not jerking off to child porn.

does anyone else in this forum get a child sexual predator vibe from this guy???
Your immaturity and inability to take constructive criticism speaks for itself. I was trying to offer suggestions in a tasteful non-offensive manner since you have obviously put money and care into your vehicle. I could have easily ripped your "mods" and questions apart but I chose to actually try to assist and understand your modifications/direction you were going.

Good Luck with your future vehicle ventures. I'll refrain from replying or assisting in any future posts from you as your comments to me and others are ridiculous and vile. I'm not sure how old you are but I do hope that in a few years in the future you'll look back at this and have a different outlook on both your vehicle and attitude.

I just consider anyone who has a problem with my car a child sexual predator because child sexual predators don't want to stand out they want to blend in like yourself.

As a writer and artist, I'm supposed to provoke reactions in people, both good and bad-my car seems to be very polemic, as are my books and art.

Pickleweed is one of those entitled little whiney babies. Be thankful your mom got you a car. A new car. You know what I got on my 18th birthday ( which was 1988). A 1981 Pontiac t 1000 that needed the clutch replaced. Fortunately my brother in law was a real mechanic so fixed it for cost. And instead of whining that this was a "lame uncool car" I was thankful and grateful.

As far as the other people saying a versa is a "piece of junk". Why do you have one then? The thing is I bought my 2017 S with a 5 speed NEW for less than 10, 000 dollars. Really what do you expect at a price like that? My car gets 35-36 mpg city driving and 40 straight highway. I does what it I need it to do. It gets me from point A to point B. I do admit that this is a "throwaway" car. But so was my 95 sunfire that I paid 15000 for brand new. (It had all the works). I drove it for 10 years. Then gave to my brother who drove it for a few more years. Anyway if this car lasts me 10 years then I'll be happy. That is 1000 a year for a car.

Additionally, people here are saying how ugly this car is. I get lots of compliments for mine. Maybe becuase I keep it is black and I keep it clean. Because it certainly isnt because I have made juvenile modifications to it. Sure it isnt the most attractive car out there. But again, I bought it for its functionality.

Lastly, I live in st. Louis. There are carjackings here in a daily basis. Maybe I'll be safe from this because it is so "uncool" and has a manual ( which noone can hardly drive anymore). Another bonus for me.

Yet another bonus for you is that you live in a great state of Kansas, which allows a concealed carry for law abiding citizens, in case you want to have an additional anti-carjacking option (beside having a stick shift car).

Everything you said is spot on! My first car was a 1974 Vega. I had to turn the A/C off to have enough power to get on the highway. I got it in 1979 as a HS graduation present from my parents. That and I added $300 of my own money to it. I was very happy to have it. I learned how to fix cars with that one. It constantly needed repairs. The day I traded it in a dealership the poor salesman had to wait 10 minutes for the smoke to clear before he let the appraiser look at it. A lot of the kids now a days feel entitled to everything. And when they get it either they don't like it or don't appreciate it. I now drive a 2016 Versa S sedan with 5 speed manual. And I love it!

Not sure what "shall issue" means but Missouri is a conceal and carry.

The problem here is they have more or less decriminalized auto theft. If a car is stolen (not car jacked). The police definitley wont look for it. My sister had 2 cars stolen out of her driveway on dec 22 of this past year. They were found by us driving around in the canfield apartment area. (This is is Ferguson, specifically the Micheal Brown apartment area). They didnt get the cars processed (fingerprinted) because they would have to pay the towing and impound fee and the police wouldnt go look for the thieves anyway.

As I said, car jackings are done here on a daily basis in areas that are considered "good". Just this past weekend they carjacked a lady that had 5 kids in the car!. This particular incident the thief did let the lady get the kids out, but quite frequently, a car is taken with a child in it. The police do try to get those, but if a car is jacked without occupants the police dont do anything. The crime is considered nonviolent and a person with a conceal and carry cant defend themselves unless the thief has a weapon.

Ever since the Ferguson thing, the police basically have their hands tied behind their backs. Add to the fact that st. Louis is becoming "far left" politically. And any move made towards a non white person is automatically racist even if the non white person was in the wrong.

Anyway, again, talking about my original response, again, a random man stopped me at the car wash while I was wiping it down and just couldnt get over the fact that my car looks so awesome. And he couldnt get over the fact that it was under 10 grand new. So foo on pickleweeds and his stupid looking note. Even if it wasnt ugly before, it is now!
