I purchased my Versa on 04/15/09 and the next day went and finalized some paperwork and bought the all weather mats. Today I notice a little slit in the mat where your foot rests. Sure enough the mat is split a whole bunch right there. Now I know I drive alot but this should not have happened in 9 month. My carpet under the mat is filthy and wet. I called the dealership and they said it's normal wear and nothing they can do. I contacted nissan corporate to see what they say.

At the very least if I don't get new set of mats if this happens to enough people maybe they will redesign them. I love how they fit in the car and the fact that they say VERSA on them so I don't want different ones. I will have to mod the one I have somehow if I don't get a new mat. Even if I do I will mod that one so that this doesn't happen again.

I found this while searching. Seems they had the same issue http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/new-2007-nissan-altima-discussion/278043-nissan-all-weather-floor-mats.html

wait so the mat isn't covered by an obvious 12month 12k mile warranty?

I guess nissan's nothing like honda... everything honda is covered by 1yr 12k miles
Nissan items are covered under 12/12 and if you get an accessory installed at time you purchased vehicle is covers 3 year/36k miles. I installed them a day later so most likely not covered under the 3/36. I have 26k miles so there goes the 12/12 for me. But the dealer just said they wouldn't cover it without me saying anything about miles. Just said it was wear and tear and that isn't covered by warranty.

I haven't had any issues with the all seasons mats. Like the fact they're easy to clean by spraying with water and air drying. Is it not a defective one you bought?
MIght be or just the way my foot rests on the mat. But still less then a year and 26k miles I would think it could hold up better then that.

Just get a new set of Versa all season mats and call it a day

The other mats are brand new. Wish I could just buy a drivers mat. don't want to spend $71 on new mats when all need is the driver. I'm just going to fasten a plate to the broken mat. Figure a little metal strip where my foot rest should do the trick.
